Find out which Airlines offer Wi-Fi in the sky to make your flight more enjoyable. Today, everyone is finding it more difficult not being able to connect to the rest of the world. Even when cell phones do not have a signal, it now feels like people have entered "The Stone Age." That is why Wi-Fi started to be offered at local coffee shops, restaurants, hospitals, and many other public locations, in turn their business's started to increase. The airlines are no different. These days it's hard to imagine how someone could have flown from Detroit to San Diego, without Wi-Fi in the sky. What could they have done to pass the time?

Wi-Fi in the sky is now being offered by the majority of carriers such as Southwest, Virgin America, Jet blue, Northwest, Delta and American Airlines. However, Wi-Fi may not be offered on every flight. Many flights still do not have the capabilities of Wi-Fi. The flights that do have Wi-Fi available are in high demand. Speed will always be a concern for Wi-Fi users. For now Airlines will still reap the benefits of just having it. Of course once it becomes wide spread, then the Airlines with the fastest Wi-Fi will be the first choice of the passengers.

Wi-Fi in the sky could possibly be what makes one Airline more competitive than another. It could also be the one deciding factor on which Airline is going to be the most profitable. According to interviews conducted by Weinschenk C. (2009) many airline customers would wait an extra day so they could catch a flight that has Wi-Fi. That should be sending a clear picture to all the major Airlines that Wi-Fi in the sky could make you number 1. It is unfortunate for the passengers of Continental and US Airways because at this time they are just starting to look into Wi-Fi. Where as many of the other Airlines have already started to charge for Wi-Fi and passengers are happy to pay for the pleasure and experience.

Wi-Fi in the sky will make for seemingly much faster flights and will stop people from having to read the seat belt manual for 3 hours, or the airline provided magazines. Of course with Wi-Fi in the sky, it also brings other possible problems such as live chats, or possible rude passengers playing music. Wi-Fi in the sky also posses another good question about safety, if cell phones should be turned off in flight, what kind of effect is downloading off the same towers going to be? Or does that mean on Wi-Fi flights cell phones will be acceptable. Of course most carriers say that cell phone ban's are for people's privacy and not for safety. Regardless, if Wi-Fi in the sky is offered you will be able to have some form of entertainment, or able to access projects while whisking off to your destination.
