Which American Idol Judge is the Most Popular Today?
The results clearly show that one of the judges is far more popular than any of the others. Could it be Simon Cowell?

The Google AdWords Keyword Tool tells users how often a name or word is searched monthly on a global basis. The results of running the American Idol judges through the tool reveals that by far Jennifer Lopez is the most searched for judge with 1.8 million global monthly searches. Not too surprising since J.Lo has both a movie and singing career.
The second highest total is for Ellen DeGeneres who has continually bombed every time she has gotten a prime time show including on American Idol. You are a comedian Ellen but were just about the least funny person on the show when you were on Idol.
The lowest total is for the one original judge left - Randy Jackson with just 90,500 global monthly searches.

Ellen DeGeneres - 7.5 million results
Jennifer Lopez - 11.9 million results

The results from running the judges names through the Google Search Engine also reveals that Jennifer Lopez generates the most results but not by as big a margin as from the global monthly searches. The surprise to me on this list is how many results Kara DioGuardi generates. I never heard of her before American Idol but her name is on over 120 music albums and her dad was a United States Congressman.
Once again the only remaining judge Randy Jackson has the lowest total at 2 million results just below new judge Steven Tyler. Tyler is a risky choice as a judge on a live TV show as I personally watched him collapse on-stage while performing with Aerosmith in Providence, Rhode Island in the 1980's.

The results from the YouTube search reveal once again that Jennifer Lopez is the most popular. Kara DioGuardi has the fewest results even though she did record a video of herself singing and put it on YouTube and it has over 1.5 million hits. Steven Tyler has the second lowest total but the Aerosmith video from the song "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" has over 71 million hits.
The surprise on the YouTube results is Randy Jackson who has the second highest total behind J.Lo.
Which American Idol Judge is the Most Popular?
The answer is clearly Jennifer Lopez. Her name is the most searched for and turns up the most results from both Google and YouTube.
How did Simon Cowell end up? While not the most popular in any category by any means Simon Cowell is also not the least popular in any category by a wide margin. Cowell was always the star of American Idol and without him it is unlikely American Idol will survive even with the huge star power Jennifer Lopez brings.
Ironically American Idol is what made Simon Cowell a celebrity so unlike all the other judges Cowell owes almost all of his fame and Internet results to being on the show.
