Which is Better: Being Rich or Being Poor?

Rita Jan
I am here to, once and for all, wipe out the myth of rich people. They are not, in fact, cruel, evil, brutal dictators who steal from the poor and build their mansions on the backs of slaves who gave their very lives so that the rich homeowner could have a new porch. Rich people, the truly rich, high net worth individuals, have a game plan...and it is not to screw everyone over.

I have been raised dirt poor and have lived as a self-made rich woman. Poor people simply do not have the same mentality as the rich. A common attitude among the poor is one of blame, lack of personal responsibility, jealousy and the ever famous "hard work pays off" mindset. Yes, hard work pays off, but it is not necessary to work hard in order to be rich. The more you realize this, the easier money will be to come by. High net worth individuals tend toward an attitude of acceptance, high personal responsibility and gratitude for examples of other rich people to mimic. Notice: jealousy isn't a part of the equation. Rich neighbors or acquaintances are seen as examples to follow and copy.

Another duality in opinions between the rich and poor is how the rich are seen as spending their money. A common poor mindset is that rich people are stingy. They only want the money for themselves, they wouldn't help their old, sick mother out, and they only want friends and jobs which will bring in more money. This is simply not the case. Having healthy finances means that money both flows in for safekeeping and saving, and flows out for generous gifts and productivity. High net worth people know that to stifle one side of the equation is to stifle the flow. Healthy money can move, or be saved and grow.

One of the best ways of becoming rich is to examine your own thoughts and opinions about money and to realize that your own subjective opinion may be costing you an eight-figure paycheck. Step back and analyze every tiny little idea, thought or belief which you have and replace it with a more productive, beneficial belief.

I completely agree. I've been judged for having more than others, and it's not fair. Some people seem to have a complex, and they automatically think I feel I'm superior. Their jealously shows. With some, no matter what I say they take it the wrong way and assume I'm putting them down. What they don't realize is, they're the ones with the problem. I've added you to my favorites list too!
