Of the name brand diapers I definitly would go with Luvs, they are the cheapest and still are a really good quality. They have a money back guarentee as well if they happen to leak. Pampers and Huggies are usually a few dollars more even if I have a coupon so I rarely buy those. However, I do purchase the Pull-Ups that Huggies make because they are usually on sale for around $7 with my coupons. But a little tip for anyone who is potty training at home, to save money on diapers I use regular underwear on my 2 1/2 year old during the day and only put diapers or pull ups on him at nap time or bedtime unless we are going out somewhere. The pull ups are pretty much just diapers that pull down anyway so for my child anyway he thinks its ok to go potty in those rather than on the potty.
I do think that the generic or store brand diapers are just as good as long as your child isn't allergic to them, some mothers have said that certain diapers give their babies rashes. CVS brand and the ones that Wal-mart sells are among the ones that I normally purchase. They are definitly cheaper most of the time even if I have a coupon for the name brand ones. So far I haven't had any leaks with either of my children.
I think with most things you are just paying for the label, and the majority of the time no one would be able to tell the difference if they were blindfolded and asked to compare the differences. I say save the money that you can on simple things like diapers and put the savings in a college fund. Twenty years from now no one is going to care if your children didn't wear the expensive diapers, but they sure will be grateful that you could help them out with their future and education. A few dollars here and there really add up when you think about it.

Post a CommentYou really just have to try the diapers. Swaddlers may be the best for some kids, but they gave my baby a bad rash. I do agree that disposables are good, but they can get a bad diaper rash with those, too, especially during nap time. Too much wetness against the skin. Because of my son's skin sensitivity, I tried a lot of diapers.
If you want to know more about my experiences, read my article:

I was wondering i have 2 children and I was wondering which kind of diaper is best for them? And which of them will give them rashes????
There is no question about it....Swaddlers are the best. They are extremely absorbant, soft on baby's bum, everything you could want in a disposable diaper. The generic ones aren't terrible though....only if it's all you can afford. Just use coupons and get the nicer ones. The 2nd best are Huggies Natural Fit Supreme. Actually, we should all be using cloth diapers. They are most natural for baby, and if you care anything about the Earth it's a really good idea. You can get a diaper service to come right to your door, pick up your soiled ones and drop new ones off. And you're not spending any more money than you would on disposables! Think about it :)
