My friends and I all found ourselves in this situation at around the same time. Over coffee one day we all decided that we would do something about it and as an experiment we all decided to try out different programs and compare them. This article reviews three programs we found online that claim to help you lose weight in next to no time. The programs are:-
So now, lets examine what they all offer and consider which is best for you. This diet is the one I went on. It was put together by Rob Poulos and is claimed to be effective for both men and women. It is based on a new way of moving that is not the same as normal cardio exercises. The promoters state that it is far more effective and I can vouch for that too. The program also gives eating tips claimed to that boost the bodies natural fat burning hormones. The program includes techniques to motivate you to stay on their program and has food tips, recipes, and exercise advice so that your tummy fat will reduce and reveal your abs. We all have abs, just sometimes we can't see them under the layer of fat. One of Rob's tips says
The fastest and most efficient way to rev up your metabolism, burn fat faster, and develop lifelong health and fitness is to add lean muscle to your body through resistance training - period. You want life changing results in the quickest possible time? Get stronger and build some muscle. When you add lean muscle to your body you'll be literally turning your body into a fat burning machine! This sounds like you might need access to a gymnasium but I can tell you that you don't. You can do resistance training at home with 2 or 3 weekly workouts that last between 20 and 30 minutes, and even less time at an advanced level. Another tip is about food.
Two Magical Substances That Allow You To Burn Fat Faster & Create Lasting Health. Water and fiber. On top of the fat burning benefits, fiber has been linked to the prevention of various conditions including heart disease, diabetes and cancer. That's a one-two health punch to be reckoned with!Sounds pretty basic right? This program goes through that in detail too. This program goes through the reasons other diets may not be working for you and how to break the weight loss / weight gain cycle. What I found refreshing was that It teaches mindset, the important of rest and sleep, and other important issues. All up this is a complete program that I have had good results with. There are plenty of testimonials as well. There is a 60 day satisfaction guarantee with this product.

Tammy did the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet because she is a fan of the series of How To books by the same name. This program's name would suggest that it is from the publishers who promote the black & yellow "4 Idiots" books that I'm sure you've seen in the bookstore. Well it's not! The publishers website illustrations show that this product is aimed at the female clientele but we expect the process will work for men as well although to what extent we can't say. The vendor states that their target is females over 30 years old which even though Tammy insists she is still 21, we know she is over 30! This product claims that you can change your body in 11 days whereas the first one claims the changes will be over a number of weeks which seemed more realistic to us. Tammy reports back that the program is about balancing your diet and eating foods aimed at stimulating a fat burning response. The program says:-
Did you know that your brain controls the release of Fat Burning Hormones after each meal? It's true. Every time you eat something there are 2 types of hormones released into your bloodstream, and together they control Fat Burning and Fat Storage. Also, did you know that these 2 hormones are controlled by the foods that you eat?
As you can see it is totally diet based and is all about balancing your food intake with particular types of foods. Hopefully you will like their food choices and recipes (Tammy said they were OK but not great) because if you don't you will not see very good results as this method is quite specific about the foods that control the weight loss hormones. Another thing about this program is that it requires that you eat more than 3 times a day so if you are a full-time employee, you may have trouble fitting the extra meal breaks into your schedule. Luckily Tammy is a stay-at-home mom but even then she sometimes had trouble eating at the right times.
Monika chose The Every Other Day Diet (developed by Jon Benson*) which is aimed at both men and women. It claims to be the first diet ever created to use a lifestyle approach that allows you to still eat the foods you love and still lose that flabby tummy. Monika was very enthusiastic about that because she is a bit of a foodie and loves eating whatever she wants to.
The central idea, their "One big secret" that they tell you before you buy is drawn from the idea that in the prehistoric days humans ate a lot of lean meats AND fat. Another thing they state is that early humans never ate the same things every day or in the same amounts (calories/kilojoules) every day. And that is the key to this diet.
I suppose that makes sense when I recall reading about the hunter/gatherer nomadic lifestyles of early humans.
The program advocates varying the food sources and calorie intake every day so that the body never gets used to a regular intake and is therefore "tricked" into not starting to store fat. If you believe that you can "trick" your body into not knowing when food is scarce or abundant then this is the diet for you.
The authors give you an eating plan that is designed to help your body burn fat, while at the same time allowing you to eat your favourite foods every week - BUT only at specific times. You do need to be somewhat disciplined in using this method to remove the fat from your flabby tummy. But keep in mind that is called the Every Other Day diet for a reason. So it's the usual foods that you love one day and the alternate day is the strict calorie and food controlled diet. Monika was surprised to report hat on the controlled days you may well be asked to eat MORE than you normally would. That came as a surprise to all of us.
Foods are to be eaten at VERY specific times apparently so they can help burn more fat by regulating leptin receptors, restoring muscle sugar, known as glycogen, and by increasing metabolic rate. Monika found the time restrictions to be difficult to stick to.
Monika said that the program also seeks to change the relationship you have with food. No more calorie counting but it gives sound nutritional advice and also the motivation to change the way you view and use food. If you are an emotion-driven eater you'll know what this means! The program author claims that he will show you why most other fad-diets will fail and why his Every Other Day Diet cannot fail. A bold claim indeed.
Results
After 4 weeks on each diet I lost the most weight. Then came Monika and last place was poor Tammy. Overall I found the program to be fairly easy to stick to and I certainly didn't find it as hard going as some diets I have tried over the years.
Recommendations
The advice we hear a lot from health care and fitness experts is to eat less and move more. I tend to agree that a multi-faceted approach is best and for that reason we ranked the programs as follows.
- TOP CHOICE is the Fat Burning Furnace. It includes diet, exercise, and mindset training.
- SECOND choice is the Every Other Day Diet mainly because it allows you to regularly eat what you like while at the same time educating you and weaning you off the bad stuff and onto the better foods. I have tried many diets and the biggest hurdle is due to me having to completely change my foods and usually to foods that I don't really like. It would be far to easy to go back to my old ways.
- THIRD choice is Fat Loss 4 Idiots. As it is totally diet based and I'm not totally convinced about the hormones being greatly affected by foods.
We tried the programs and found them effective.
