Which French Fries Are Better? McDonald's Vs. Burger King

Like it is Even a Fair Fight

Tim St.Sauver
It's all about the crisp and the crunch. McDonald's has it, Burger King doesn't. Period.

I've heard people say that the difference between the two is minimal. Or that the fries don't really matter compared to the other menu items. Well I have news for those people - You're wrong.

Not only are you wrong, but you are also risking the integrity the entire fast food experience. And really, I don't know why you would want to do that. Get your head in the game. Seriously.

If I'm going to go ahead and choose to eat one of the most unhealthy foods on the planet, I'm not going to settle for second best. What would be the point of that? You get the same amount of guilt and gut from each of them, but it is important to remember that eating french fries is about the journey, not the destination. If I'm going to end up as the chubby, self-loathing individual that eating too many french fries can turn you into, then I'm going to enjoy every second of the ride. That much I can guarantee.

Next time you bite into a Burger King french fry, tell me you don't notice the chewiness of it. It is almost as though there is a small line of mashed potatoes inside the fry. I love mashed potatoes, just not inside my french fries.

Bite into a handful of fries purchased from the kind people at the Golden Arches, on the other hand, and you get that wonderful crisp french fry feeling. Really. It's euphoric.

It makes sense when you think about it. Just look at the evidence. Cold hard facts. Look at Burger King. Hmmm, that's an interesting name choice. Could it be because you worry too much about flame broiling your burgers and don't pay enough attention to your french fries? Yep, I think it could.

McDonald's, on the other hand, knows what they are doing. The Golden Arches. What else is golden? If you guessed McDonald's french fries, you are correct.

I'd tell you to go do a taste test, buying some fries from each place and deciding for yourself. But that would just be a waste of your time and money. Because Burger King would lose that taste test. I'm just trying to help you out here. Golden Arches = Golden French Fries = that Fabulous French Fry Feeling. End of story.

How can anyone in their right mind enjoy McDonald's french fried? First off, they're miniscule, sorry and pathetic excuses for a full size french fry. Second off, the oil that McDonald's uses leaves behind a nasty after taste in the french fries. Third, I don't know what McDonalds and Burger King you go to, but the fries I get at my McDonalds are greasy, limp and disgusting. The fries from burger king, on the other hand, are crisp, crunchy and delicious with no horrible, substandard, oily after taste.

Maybe it is completely different area to area, but BK here has the more stiff fries. McDonalds has the mushy ones.
