Which Internet Browser is Best?

Internet Browser Review

Walter Kovacs
There are many ways to browse the internet. The programs used to explore all the web pages of the internet are called browsers. There are five major ones: Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera. On my computer, I have all of these browsers. Each have some strong points, but along with these strong points there are some major flaws.

Let's start with the most popular browser. This is Internet Explorer 8. Internet Explorer 8 is the browser that comes already installed on all Windows computers. It is a very minimalistic browser. The user interface of Internet Explorer 8 is very simple, a good fit for people who are new to the computer. Internet Explorer is made by Microsoft, and controls most of the browser marker. The most major problem with it is that the rendering on it is slow. When you load a page on a browser, it downloads all the elements of the page (text, pictures, videos, flash) and interprets how to put them on the screen. Internet Explorer 8 has no problem downloading the elements of the page. It does often have a problem with interpreting them. It will always get it right, but it takes quite a while for it to work.

Next there is Mozilla Firefox. This browser is one of the only ones that is compatible with both Windows and Mac. This is good, because most websites are tested with Firefox. Firefox is one of the fastest browsers, but the user interface is very minimalistic. It looks very simple and not very appealing. It also has one HUGE flaw. To print a picture in any other browser, you can right click on the picture and click print. The problem Firefox is that you can't do that. This makes it so you have to save a picture file to your desktop and then print it. This is a major security issue, because many pictures on the internet contain trojan horses and viruses. These can steal your personal information (including your credit card number) and can basically destroy your computer.

Next is Opera. This is my second favorite browser. The user interface is beautiful, the best of any of the 5 browsers. This is a good feature, but what it has in user interface it lacks in actual usefulness. It interprets flash webpages incorrectly, often putting links on top of each other, making it impossible to use them. On Facebook, for example, it is impossible to get to your account settings. This browser is pretty, but it is not very useful. I would choose another one if you are using your browser for anything practical.

Our fourth browser is Safari. This is the default browser on all Mac computers. It is a nice browser. It is very average. Its user interface is nice, and its security precautions will make a good wall for viruses. This is good, because if you get even one virus, you may have to restore or just trash your computer. A word of warning, Safari does not view webpages well if they are made on a windows machine or tested on Internet Explorer 8.

Last but certainly not least is Google Chrome. It has lightning fast speed, amazing security, practically sniping viruses that come within a mile of your computer. The user interface on it is nice looking (not as nice as Opera, but definitely the second nicest). It also has a great function that in runs when you start it up. It will show you eight windows with websites you often visit. This makes navigating the internet extremely easy as well as simple and fun. As I write this review, I am writing it on the Google Chrome browser. This is definitely the best choice.

In conclusion, pick Chrome. The Windows version runs without flaw. On Mac, I am not so sure, but on Windows, it is perfect.
