While Elin Nordegren Celebrates a Happy New Year, Tiger Woods Not so Much

Tiger Woods Plays "Where's Waldo?" While Elin Parties with Friends and Family in France

While serial philanderer Tiger Woods was reportedly losing yet another lucrative sponsorship deal, his wife (as of now) Elin Nordegren spent the New Year in France with her twin sister and several friends at a luxury seven-bedroom chalet in the Alps near the resort of Chamonix.

According to a report from the BBC, AT&T decided to end their sponsorship of Tiger Woods due to the scandals over Woods' affairs and his sudden departure from the golfing world. Meanwhile, the PGA Tour has dropped Woods as the host of its July 4 AT&T National golf tournament.

While Tiger's New Year seems to have gotten off to a bad start, Elin Nordegren's New Year started off with supportive friends and family. Elin was spotted skiing in Les Houches, an exclusive ski area in the French Alps, where she reportedly arrived a couple of days after Christmas with her twin sister Josefin and five close friends. She apparently took her family and friends to France to escape the pain and the media frenzy brought on by Tiger's infidelity. According to several news reports, the Nordegren group stayed in a $8,000-a-night chalet near the main resort but away from the crowd with a French security team hired to protect their privacy.

Although Elin reportedly remained inside the cozy hideaway for much of the trip, she was photographed strolling around the resort and she did go out to a Swedish-owned restaurant on New Year's Eve with her twin sister Josefin and friends. According to the Swedish paper Expressen, the sisters enjoyed a small party which turned into a 30th birthday party for the twins. They ordered champagne at midnight to toast the arrival of 2010 and to celebrate Elin and Josefin's 30th birthday. The twins, who were born on born January 1, 1980, "seemed to thrive," a waitress told the paper.

There are no reports on where Elin and Tiger's children were on this vacation, although as reported in Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren Go Separate Ways Elin went first to her home in Sweden, so it is likely she left the children with her family.

No one is really sure where Tiger Woods has been, either. Reports have placed him in the Bahamas, in Palm Beach, at extensive marriage counseling sessions with Elin and holed up in the homes of various supporters. Those extensive marriage counseling sessions must be difficult since Elin seems to have taken herself as far away from Tiger and his mistresses as she can get. As for Tiger Woods - he seems to have started the New Year playing his own version of "Where's Waldo?"

He screwed up. (Is there nothing we can say about him that's not innuendo?)

Love the "serial philanderer" phrase. Hadn't heard that one before. It fits Tiger perfectly. Party-on Elin!
