While the Human Race Slept (Poem)

An Environmental Poem, but NOT My Earth Day 2010 Submission

Allana Calhoun
The air we breathe was diminishing
there's not much clean air left
The Earth was slowly dying
while the human race slept

Our water supply was decreasing
there's not much drinking water left
The Earth was slowly dying
while the human race slept

Our fertile land was deserting
us, there's not much of it left
The Earth was slowly dying
while the human race slept

Now we're trying to stop polluting
so many things to do left
The Earth was slowly dying
while the human race slept

Was entered into a poetry contest at some point in time since it's origin, but do not remember which one.

Great poem. Sometimes when I read a poem, I can see a novel in short form - so it is here.

Very nice. The repetitions help to drive the idea home.

Nice! I'm always amazed at those that think environmental awareness is some sort of new fad. ;)
