White Females.....Minorities?
Now that We're in the 21 Century, Can We Consider White Females as Minorities or as Part of the Majority
In the past, many white males had to choose among a field of Caucasian male candidates. In this year's election, well at least for the Democratic nomination, the choice is between a black male and a white female.
Today, more and more White women are holding top level executive positions in corporate America. In the corporate world, women have vastly increased their presence in the workplace, where many of the high-level positions, vacated by the baby-boomer generation, are being filled with white females. Not only are white women dominate in industries known to be feminine (health care, retail, hospitality) but now white females are breaking the chains and entering industries that are traditionally more employed by men.
For example, in the accounting field, the percentage of CPA accountants who are female (mostly white females) has increased in the last twenty years. In fact, at universities in America, white female enrollment has increased exponentially. The total enrollment of women in US colleges is more than that of their counterpart (males). Another example is in the political realm. The number of White females in various positions in office has increased from past years.
White females today are becoming the dominant race and gender in corporate America. This is aided by their need to stress the importance of equal rights. However the opposite affect is taking place. The push for equality is now a push for domination. The counter intuitive nature of this mindset has taken its toll on the American economy. The competitive nature of white females in the workplace towards their male counterparts, places emphasis on competitive actions that deter goals situated to combat forces outside their company, especially global competitors.
Can we consider white females as part of the minority sect in America? The election results from the Democratic Party nomination has proven that most white males are in favor of voting towards Hillary Clinton. History has shown that white males collectively have voted for a candidate considered to be part of the majority in America. This year white males and white females have shown more support for a white female.
So what does this all mean? One main point can be made from this observation. White women in America have become a force in America and any judicial actions enforced to assist white females should be directed towards members of actual minority groups in American, such as Blacks, Mexicans, Asians, etc. One may even venture -out and say that white females should be excluded from the definition of protected class citizens. How can a group of people (white females) be considered disadvantaged when most of the power lies in their hands?
Now for my take on this topic. In America today, the presence of white males in Corporate America is shrinking due to the fact that the racial population mix in America is changing. People from other nationalities are immigrating to the United States, thus changing the population landscape of America. The powers to be, and in this case white males, realize this change and have made the path up the corporate ladder more accessible for white woman than for minorities.
