White IPhone 4 Release Date Delayed

The White iPhone 4 hasn't been released yet, although its black counterpart has been flooded out on in the markets. The handset has been phenomenally successful, selling an amazing 1.7 million handsets in three days, according to CNET.com. Despite the amazing record-breaking success, the smartphone has been plagued with issues and was the subject of a press conference by Steve Jobs. The White iPhone release date wasn't touched on much during the press conference, much to the chagrin of those who desire that particular color. One can't help but hope that potential buyers won't shy away now that the reception problems, aka "antennagate" have been made widely known.

Jobs went so far as to demonstrate that reception issues are not unique to the Apple iPhone 4. He showed a Blackberry Bold 9700 being held a similar way drop a call. I will make this personal admission - I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 and I do not have one complaint about reception or call clarity. I do, however, plan on purchasing an iPhone once my contract period is up with my BB.

To combat the "non-existant" problem in the "imperfect" smartphone (Jobs said that no smartphone - not even his company's sleekly designed one - is perfect), the company is offering a free bumper case. This will help users to hold their hand away from the antenna and keep the calls from dropping.

Again, Jobs didn't touch on a confirmed actual release date of the White handset, and if you visit Apple's official Web site there's still a message that reads "White iPhone currently unavailable for order or in-store pickup." There's no pre-order date available or no published indication of an expected release date.

Bloggers online say that Jobs stated a firm date of July 30th in the press conference. July 30th is the release date of the phone in several other countries that did not experience the release the same day as the Americans did. While it's possible for the phone to be released on that date, there's no firm word from the CEO. All he said at the press conference is that there would be resolution to the issue by the end of July. He did not confirm a release date.

Personally, if you want to know when the White iPhone 4 will be released, I would actually just keep an eye on the company's official Web site. Chances are, you will be able to order the product early - before it reaches the physical shelves at retail outlets.
