White IPhone 4 Rumored at Walmart

"How will Walmart create a buzz to get customers back into their stores?" This must be a question on the forefront of every Walmart executives mind, especially new U.S. President and CEO Bill Simon. At a recent address to analysts at a Goldman Sachs conference, Simon was optimistic about the retailer's recovery efforts.

A company which produces over $400 billion in annual sales shouldn't worry about recovery efforts. With a faltering economy, unemployment still hovering around 10%, and the cost of goods fluctuating daily, Walmart does have concerns abound. Walmart executives point to Middle America, its main customer, as having a difficult time breaking loose of economic issues.

Recently, Simon announced the reintroduction of promotional merchandise in Walmart action alleys. The addition of merchandise will give customers more opportunity to buy items which may have been removed during remodels or relocations. The removal of merchandise was Walmart's failed attempt to lure high-end customers during the "Great Recession". According to Walmart, the effect of the removal of merchandise made customers angry. Once the financial stressors no longer affected the higher-end customer, they moved on to other retailers such as Best Buy and main rival Target.

Under pressure to boost U.S. sales, Simon has spoken on smaller formatted stores in urban areas such as San Francisco and New York. Walmart has realized their growth mechanism is the urban areas since the rural area are becoming oversaturated with stores and thus not creating a return on their investment.

One way to capitalize on sagging sales and to boost customer traffic is to create a buzz around a product. Unfortunately, this product is only a rumor with no release date.

One of the biggest electronic products of the year, if not of all time is the iPhone 4. People waited for days for a chance to get the next greatest iPhone. Walmart was one of the retailers who carried the iPhone 4.

The buzz is the iPhone 4 in white. There have been rumors, but nothing in concrete proof. In a story released by pocketnow. com, Walmart has eluded to the sale of an iPhone in white. Is this a myth; is it reality, or does Walmart have the inside track to one of the greatest technological items of all time?

There are no validated sources confirming or denying the iPhone in white, so the world will have to wait and see if this is true. If nothing else, Walmart has created an internet buzz which could have customers going to their store in droves.
