White Students Told to Remove T-shirts with the American Flag on Them on Cinco De Mayo Because it Offends Mexicans Since It's A "Mexican Holiday"

Since when is it a Crime to Be Patriotic in America

Jay Braun
There is a large amount of controversy lately that is surrounding illegal immigration in the untied states. Legal immigration can also cause a strain on resources. Right now over 50% of immigrants to the United States are receiving public assistance. That sickens me. I know they are legal, but why are we taking people from other countries that can't hold their own weight. We need to take care of our countrymen before importing people who are burdens on society. What is really pathetic is when people here don't respect our laws and culture and seek to impose theirs on us as Americans.

A prime example of this occurred on May 5, 2010 in California. Five students were outside of Live Oak High school when they were approached by a school administrator informed they that they were dressed was deemed offensive to other students. You would think these students had shirts on with swastikas, racial slurs, or profanity on them. Maybe they had beer advertising on them that offended someone else. That is not the case at all. It turns out that these five young men were wearing the American flag on various shirts and items that they had showing their patriotism as they do many times. Daniel Galli, Austin Carvalho, Matt Dariano, Dominic Maciel and Clayton Howard had attire on that was deemed offensive to Mexicans because this was Cinco De Mayo, which is a big heritage day for Mexicans. It marks a victory by the Mexican army over the French and had nothing to do with a struggle with America.

The students were told by Assistant Principal Miguel Rodriguez ( I am sure he was not biased or anything based on his name) told the boys that they would have to turn their shirts inside out or go home for the rest of the day. The students believed that it would be disrespectful to the flag and refused to do so. Rodriguez did not want any fights breaking out between "American and Mexican students" since it was Cinco De Mayo. He said that there would not have been any issue any other day of the year. Many students were wearing Mexican colors or flags on that day and there were also costumed dancers doing Mexican cultural dances on school property. I personally don't have a problem with that and neither did the students asked to take off their American flag apparel. Many people celebrate their Irish heritage on St. Patrick's Day, but I don't think many white kids would go around starting trouble over kids wearing American flags on that holiday or Italian kids making an issue over American flags on shirts on Columbus Day. Mexican kids who were interviewed felt it was very "disrespectful on that day". Student Laura Ponce had Mexican flags painted on her body. She stated of the day "This is the only day Mexican-American students can show their national pride" I beg to differ on two points. First shouldn't their national pride be in the United States? I am sure she knows some anchor baby on welfare if she is not one herself. Also people wear Mexican flags all the time. I call bull on the "only day" comment. One girl said "This is a Mexican holiday to celebrate Mexican heritage". In something really rare she spoke perfect English. She should take a geography class. This is not Mexico. Many will say "it used to be but was stolen" first of all it was won in war or bought and that was over 150 years ago. I am sick of hearing that. If you love Mexico so much and that is were your loyalty is then go back there. Oh yeah that is right. They don't give birthright citizenship in Mexico. They have no welfare except for pointing people to the U.S. border to sneak in and mooch, there are no food stamps, WIC, or bi-lingual classes when anchor babies and children of illegal immigrants not born here whose parents are not intelligent enough to teach them English. Live Oak High School is 36% Hispanic and I have no doubt that at least half of that amount is either illegal or an anchor baby. Then you have the children of anchor babies. All of which have no business in this country when they come here just to mooch and leech.

The parents of the students are demanding an apology which I think is much deserved. They are also debating on whether or not to take legal action. I again think they should. I am sure the Latino students would if they had the chance. The district has called the actions "Unfortunate" and being investigated. Notice how much outcry there is over the Arizona law to deal with illegal immigration. All most Latinos seem to think is amnesty. That just brings more and they have anchor babies who get all kinds of public assistance and burden the system more in a country that they are not wanted, needed or welcomed.

With all the debate about immigration reform and things of that nature there are some lessons here. First of all liberal whites are the reason some groups have so much power now and keep getting more. The Mexicans were not even the majority in the school just a big amount. Also it seems in most, but not all, Mexicans here ( legal, illegal, and anchor babies) loyalty lies with the second world corrupt nation they are from and should have stayed in ( if they are going to go attacking our country that if legal welcomes them) instead of coming here. Ii California and this school I am sure there are more than few illegal aliens and anchor babies mooching. With the entire backlash over Arizona trying to take their state back from the criminals I wonder were the backlash and outcry will be over this. Will Al Sharpton shoot his obnoxious mouth off or Jesse Jackson about boycotts and marches? Is the ACLU, ADL, SPLC or other anti-American racists and anti-Christian organizations going to call for an apology to those students? Of course they will not. Just like when someone white commits a crime against someone black the SPLC is all over it yet they defend the Jena 6 that were clearly guilty of a hate crime. Why? They are not minorities. I personally think that Barack Hussein Obama should decry this action like he did the Arizona law. The Hispanic Caucus should say how wrong this is like they did the Arizona law. The only reason people gripe about that law is they do not want illegal alien invading criminals captured and deported. Wake up my fellow Americans. This is the wave of the future. You need to stand for something or you will fall for anything. Mexicans seem to be taking this country over. I have nothing against people from Mexico. I can't stand illegal aliens and don't think they belong here and would deport them all along with anchor babies if I could. I also think birthright citizenship rewards criminal activity and burdens the American taxpayer. Many illegal invaders come here because of the birthright citizenship provision. There are schools in California were Mexican students have taken the American flag down off the flag pole and flew the USA flag under the Mexican flag on school property (you can find verification online if you don't believe me). Many come here by the illegal or anchor route and they are going to have all this love for Mexico over this country. Is that really what my fellow Americans want? People who allow this will probably realize what a mistake they made one day. They will wonder what on earth happened because they let it. It will be too late when they realize it. Wake up and have some pride in your American heritage people. Also on Immigration i am all for legal immigration as long as it is people who will help our country and we dont take on huge amounts. Coming to the another country reminds me of what I once heard about joining a fraternity. A person who joins a fraternity does what the fraternity wants. You do not go around trying to make new fraternity rules while you are a pledge. It is kind of like an immigrant coming to the United States. They are wanting to join us. IT is their job to conform. It is not ours to conform to them. Yet with the latino culture it seems many invade illegally from Mexico ( not all mexicans but enough) and they want us to embrace their ways. I wish automated systems would say "press one for english. if you want spanish go back were they speack it".

Update: Some of the students have decided to sue. I hope they are victorious in their legal battle.

Thank you for reading.

God Bless You and God Bless America.

We must protect this country from threats foreign ( illegal aliens) and domestic ( people like liberals)

What will you tell your children you did?

  • There is a clear double standard of how people are judged on race.
  • Amnesty attemps for illegal aliens will only lead to more conflicts.
Some people who possibly dont even belong here have no respect for this country. If you love another country so much get out and go there and quit mooching of the american tax payer.

mexican is not american. Irish is not american, Italinan is not american. Yet you dont see the later two groups calling them selves irish or italian often. They say they are either american or irish-american. i do hear mexican-american. if you pay attention to some of those interviews you notice they say mexican. If they said "its an important holiday to mexican americans" then one thing, but still in america there should be no issue of wearing the us flag. Nor should there be pride in your heritage as many mexican-americans have, but if people want to fly mexican flags over th us flag and care more about mexican than here while collecting our benefits they can go back. That goes to anyone from any country. I am not asian but often go to chinese new year celebrations. I dont think if i had a flag on anyone would say anything in chinatown.

Most of the problem is " peoples view point that any mexican is not american "

Racism and yet these same people are trying not to act racist ?

i think Arizona has the right idea, we will have to pull our armys home to protect us or we can take over mexico make it a state and then they can stay there and still get take care of legal, i saw that picture of the kids and upside down flag and want to go out and put them on the bus back where they came from but the bleeding hards in this country control it and until you put someone in office who is going to correct the problem we will always have it

What I want to know is why "politically correct" doesn't include Americans in America? We are so worried about not offending anyone of another nationality/race we have offended and taken rights and privledges from our own people. That principal said he didn't want a fight to start, that wouldn't even have been an issue if we hadn't been bending over backwards to give these Mexican immigrants everything they want- whether they "deserved" it or not. Remember that old adage about give them an inch and they'll take a mile-- well they're doing it - about 3,000+ miles. Stop it now!!!!!!!!!!!!

"The Native Americans are the only real Americans." You are right and my native culture was destroyed. I will be damned if i will lose my american heritage because of criminals. Also like it or not the europeon settlers did establish this country and are responsible for quite a bit of the greatness as are other groups. I hate the stolen contient crap.

cinco de mayo celebrates the defeat of the Frenc at the battle of puebla in 1862. It is primarily a regional holiday in the state of puebla with limited recognition in other parts of mexico. So why is it being touted as a big deal here. Very few of these mixicans come from the state of puebla.P.S. I now i didn't capitalize alot of words that should have been but I have nothing but contempt for these people who are a burden on our society.

The Native Americans are the only real
    Americans.

It is pathetic the path the United States is heading, it's not as if we have never had immigrants come to this country before, however they came here to legally become citizens, they learned to speak english, got jobs or started businesses, paid taxes and went out of their way to assimilate. They did not come here illegally to sponge off of the backs of hard working tax paying Americans and would have never expected this country to change the language we use for signage and business. I say we have a good ole chase them the hell out of this country and if they come back across illegally shoot the bastards so the problem stops. Maybe if they knew they could lose their lives they would go to El Salvador (the other country Mexico borders) instead of the USA, oh that's right no welfare system there. It all comes down to AMERICA LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT.
