White Trash: A Yummy and Easy Holiday Snack

Karen
"White Trash" is a delicious and sweet snack served around the holidays. This is a quick and easy recipe to make for everyone to enjoy.

Needed:

White Chocolate Almond Bark

A can of Peanuts or Mixed Nuts

A bag of Tiny Tim Pretzels

A variety of Cereals of your choice (I use Wheat Chex, Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Crispix, Regualr Cheerios, and Regular Life Cereals)

Wax paper or tin foil

Cooking Spray

On a flat surface (countertop or flat top range), lay and spread out several pieces of wax paper or foil. This is where you will spread your white trash out to dry and harden. Once you have an area about the size of a stove top covered, spray a thin coat of cooking spray on it so that the chocolate does not stick to the paper or foil.

In a LARGE bowl, combine a 1 1/2 cups of each one of the cereals. To that add a cup of nuts and a couple handfuls of pretzels. Mix all of this gently together.

In a LARGE microwave safe bowl, take half the white chocolate almond bark and heat in the microwave for 90 seconds, stiring once. Once the time is up remove the chocolate and stir to melt any remaining chocolate clumps. If there is, heat an additional 15 seconds. Be careful not to over heat the chocolate because it can scorch and ruin the chocolate.

Once all of the chocolate has been melted, take and add the cereal mixture to the melted chocolate. Do not add all the cereal all at once. Depending on the number of different cereals you use, you may have too much cereal to get an even coat on all of it if you add all of the cereal at once. Add the cereal by cupfuls, stir, and coat the cereal with the chocolate. Depending on your taste for the white chocolate, you can coat the mixture thickly or thinly. I prefer in the middle: not too much and not too little.

Once you have the desired coating of white chocolate on your cereal mixture, pour the cereal mixture out on the prepared wax paper or tin foil. Spread the cereal mixture around so that the chocolate can dry. Let dry on the paper or foil for about 20 minutes. Once it's hardened, it is ready to enjoy. Place the mixture in air tight containers to pass out to friends or to enjoy for a snack yourself. ENJOY!!!
