Some WhiteHouse.gov Pages May be Missing during Transition
During the changeover, there may be several broken links on the White House website, which brings up a 404 Page Not Found error with the message, "The page you requested wasn't found at this location. The Obama Administration has created a brand new White House website, and it's possible that the page you were looking for has been moved."
White House Blog
Perhaps the biggest change this reporter has noted is the addition of a White House blog, and a feedback and comments section. The White House blog, found at www.whitehouse.gov/blog, already has several entries, discussing the changes the Obama administration will be making to the White House website. The hope for the White House blog is to connect with the American people and increase communication and information available to Americans and the world.
In the very first post, "Change has come to WhiteHouse.gov", Macon Phillips, the Director of New Media for the White House, writes, "One of the first changes is the White House's new website, which will serve as a place for the President and his administration to connect with the rest of the nation and the world."
According to the blog post, which represents the attitude of the Obama administration, not only will the White House blog play an important role in increasing communication, the White House blog will also make Barack Obama's presidency more transparent.
The hope of the White House blog is to increase participation with the American people as well. To quote the White House blog post, "Citizen participation will be a priority for the Administration, and the internet will play an important role in that." The White House blog promises that all non-emergency legislation will be posted to the White House website for five days, to allow the public to comment before President Obama signs it.
White House Contact Form
Another change to the WhiteHouse.gov website is the contact form. The contact pages reiterates President Obama's desire to have the "most open and accessible administration in America's history."
If you wish to commend, complain, or just say 'hello' to President Obama, simply go to the www.whitehouse.gov/contact and fill out your name, email address, zip code, and enter your message of 500 characters or less.
Obama Administration's Use of the Internet
With a bulk of Barack Obama's campaign occurring online, is it any surprise President Obama would continue to utilize the Internet in communicating with the American people?
This reporter truly hopes the changes on the White House website are not just for show. Americans need to know that their opinions matter, and the changes on the White House website are a step in the right direction.

Mr.President,Why are we defending other countries,while there is war in our own backyard.Bring our troops back and better secure borders,there is over population enough.

You promised us change but what we got is crippling government regulations that strangle small business. I am a CPA and I deal with small businesses. When you go on TV and tell America that small businesses now can expense up to $250,000 in capital expenditures, you fail to take into account, that they do not have $250,000 to spend , they barely hang on with a couple of thousand dollars in their checking accounts. Do you ever do a reality check or are you so far removed from the average American or do you simply not care?
