Whitney Thompson Pulls Out a Shocking Win on America's Next Top Model Cycle 10

Whitney won! She's the first ever plus-size America's Next Top Model winner. I couldn't be happier for her! Bless her heart-she's been putting up with being called 'fat' all her life. For real, she is so not what I would consider 'plus-sized.' Now really, I get it, in high fashion modeling, I agree, that she is a little larger than most but she is beautiful. She is anything but fat! I think there is something to be said about being labeled big and maintaining the confidence that she has been able to maintain.

Fatima went home in 3rd place which didn't really shock me. She was letting her confidence get in the way of her modeling. I think she thought she had the competition won, so instead of listening to the judges she kept herself busy dreaming of the moment when they named her America's Next Top Model. She thought she was going to win and her performances went downhill. In the show on Wed. they did a photo shoot and commercial for Cover Girl and she certainly looked great but the way she looked and the way she sounded didn't match.

Anya came in second and looked stunning. For the final task she and Whitney were part of a huge runway show. Her walk on the runway was great in my opinion but apparently I don't know how models should walk. I thought Whitney was flinging her arms way too much but the judges said she hit it from the moment she stepped onto the runway, apparently helping her claim the title.

I still think Whitney could bring more personality and less fake lip flare to her photo shoots but overall the judges felt she was the top model. I guessed incorrectly because I really didn't think she'd get to the top two (see my previous article where I predicted the winner would be Anya)! If I had known Whitney would make it that far and that it'd be her and Anya instead of my guess of Anya & Fatima, I may have picked her. I believe the 'reality' of reality shows is that in the end, they like to have variety in their winners . She is the first plus-size model to have made it this far, none had even been in the final four before to my knowledge.

Congrats to Anya and Fatima for getting as far as they did, we all know they'll get calls from modeling agencies as well. Of course, congratulations to Whitney for this accomplishment. The judge said it best tonight on the show when she said it shouldn't be plus-size or full-figured, it should just be called..."beautiful."
