WHO AM I? WHO ARE YOU?

Striving to Become that Which I Already Am

Jeff Miztah Rogers

I am striving to become that which I already am.

I can only be that which I understand that I am. As I learn of the grace and mercy of Christ, I grow in my understanding of who I am in HIM. Look at the scripture and let it answer for you, who you are.

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Romans 3:24

--I am "Justified", that means that I am Just in the sight of God. I have been declared "Just".

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1

-- I am without condemnation. No matter the sin i commit; Christ has borne the penalty for it and I cannot be called to answer for it ever again.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2

--I am "Free". I no longer am in bondage to a religious system of law; do's and don'ts. I am free to walk with Christ without artificial restrictions and systems.

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Romans 12:5

--I am a member. I belong, never to be without brother or sister again. I have an exalted Father in heaven, and Christ Jesus is my brother. I have been born into the family and if that is not enough, I am also adopted and given all of the legal privileges that adoption brings.

Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: 1 Corinthians 1:2

--I am a "Saint. Set aside in Christ, called, and now owned by Jesus Christ as His reward and inheritance from the Father.

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 1 Corinthians 1:30

--I am in Christ, and this results in Wisdom from on high. Righteousness that he provides; not my own, sanctification here and now. Sanctification and redemption that I can have in abundance (to the uttermost)...I just need to walk in it and learn of Him who provided it and it is mine.

As we continue to walk, day by day we learn more about Christ. The more we learn about Christ, the more we are like Him.

When we shall see Him, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Seeing Christ is the secret to a Christ-like walk. Have you gazed upon him today? Moses said look to the serpent and live. Jesus told Nicodemus in John chapter 3

"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:14-15 --So according to Jesus, looking is believing, believing is to have eternal life.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:22

--In Christ I am alive. Before I was dead in my trespasses and sin.

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6

--I now have the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in Christ Jesus. What else would I need?

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

--I am NEW! Everything old is in the past.

And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: Galatians 2:4

--I have liberty in Christ, which is worth guarding, lest I be drawn or brought into bondage. Believe me I will guard that liberty dearly.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

--I am crucified---I live---And yet it is Christ alive in me.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26

--I am a child of God.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28

--I am one with you if you are one with Christ. If Christ is my savior, then all who share that are my brothers-sisters-family. We reserve no special place for race, creed, color, sex. Only one thing matters: Are you his?

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: Ephesians 2:6

--I am raised. Because of this I no longer need to live the life that I came out of, no matter what that was. I can now live a heavenly life, for I am seated with him in the heavenly places. I do not need to wait to get there to start living that kind of life.

That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:7

--I am a portal of God's riches through Jesus Christ that he will use to display in the ages (eternity) to come.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

--I am the work of God's hands, both physically and spiritually. I have been created for good uses, and I can be assured that God has laid out a path for me to pursue those good things.

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. 2 Corinthians 1:20

--I have all the promises of God in Christ. God is a God of the "Yes" and the "Amen". God is not the God of cursing, but of blessing and it is in this God and His glory that I reside. He glories in saying, "Yes", based on the perfection of His Son.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

--I am in the process of being made the righteousness of Jesus Christ. This is only possible because he was made sin on my behalf, taking upon himself that sin that I could never have satisfactorily paid on my own.

In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. Ephesians 3:12

--I have direct access to God by the doorway that is Christ. As I enter, I enter as an heir with confidence and not timidity.

And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Philippians 3:9

--I have that which I have not worked for, that which I did not earn. I have the righteousness of God because of the perfect performance of Jesus Christ. All the good things He earned by His perfection, I now own by my union with Him.

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: Colossians 2:10

--I am complete. I lack nothing. I am participating in the exercise of the head of all, who rules principalities and powers. I take a back seat to no earthly power...or demonic principal.

He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 1 John 2:10

--I have a new supernatural love for others who are also in union with Christ. This love and light will bring us all to the end of our roads with no tripping or stumbling. Life with no skinned knees...I may not have that yet...but I am in the process of attaining it.

And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. 1 John 2:28

--I have confidence. I bear no shame. His work took all my sin, shame and failure.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 1 John 5:14

--Here it is declared that I have an expanded confidence that allows me to be asking according to His will. My desires are becoming His desires. I am learning not to ask to satisfy the passing cravings of the flesh, but I am learning to ask, not for what is my will, but what is His will for me.
