Who is Barry Watson?

Barry Watson. You may know him from the ten-season hit show 7^th Heaven, where he played eldest brother, Matt Camden. Or perhaps you know him from his teenage acting years on Days Of Our Lives. His most recent effort, however, is where the buzz is. On this ABC show, Michael Barrett "Barry" Watson, or "Bucky" as his 7^th Heaven costars call him, plays the relationship-jumping Brian Davis.

This actor was born in Traverse City, Michigan in 1974. His family moved to Dallas, Texas eight years later. In Texas, Barry did some modeling work. When he was fourteen, his parents got divorced, and a year later, he moved to LA on his own. While in LA, he found work on the daytime television show, Days Of Our Lives. He did this for six months before returning to Texas. He studied acting at the Dallas Young Actors Studio and graduated from high school in 1992. After graduating high school, he found himself back in Los Angeles, waiting tables, and parking cars at The House of Blues for extra cash, as he worked on building his acting career at a young nineteen years of age.

During this time of struggling to scrape by, he was chosen for a role on Malibu Shores, working with Aaron Spelling. He also guest starred on such shows as Baywatch. He even got the chance to work with great actors, including Darryl Hannah when he played on the HBO original film, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. While working on 7^th Heaven in May of 2002, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease, a type of cancer, and had to temporarily leave the show for treatment. Nearly a year later, in April of 2003, it was reported to be in remission, and he reappeared on the television show, finishing out the series. Barry also tried his hand in big screen films such as Teaching Mrs. Tingle in 2000 and Boogeyman in 2005.

While he is continuing to work on ABC's, What About Brian with co-stars such as Sarah Lancaster, Rosanna Arquette, and Tiffani Thiessen, he is also starting to build a family of his own. He is currently engaged to Tracy Hutson, who can sometimes be seen on ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and they have a two year old son named Oliver who was born in May of 2005. While Oliver is Barry's first child, Watson was previously married to Laura Payne-Gabriel in 1997.

While the fate of What About Brian is still being determined, it is unlikely that this is the end of the road for his acting career. In his early thirties, Barry is still one of the Sexiest Men Alive, according to People Magazine in 2006!
