Who Make the Best Friends: Men or Women?

Christina Armani
While most people have been saying that men make the best friends, I have to say that it's women who make the best friends. Women are always there when you need them; you can count on them for anything, and they're very easy to talk to and understand. I've always had women best friends and enjoy girl talk and the occasional guy bashing. In my years of experience, I've seen that all men are pretty much the same while women tend to vary in their morals, goals, ambitions, interests, and sexual desires. Yet men can also be can be comforting, romantic, compassionate, intelligent, and caring.

I've always been more comfortable around females, but perhaps that's just me. I've never been too comfortable around men, with the exception of my boyfriend. I envy females who can have males as best friends and think that it's refreshing that there aren't as many gender rules and boundaries as there used to be. Back when I was in high school, girls were mainly friends with other girls, and boys were mainly friends with other friends. It's great to see that times have changed and that people can hang out with those of the opposite sex a lot more freely.

Perhaps a lot of women who say that men make better friends have never lived with a man before. Believe me, it isn't easy at all. I know this for a fact since I've been living with my boyfriend for over three years. Men want to be in charge, and they like to nag and complain. They can be too obsessed with sports and video games even if they're in their late twenties, and they don't like to clean up after themselves. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that these traits are true of every single man. However, they do seem to be common treats that I often hear women complain about.

The truth is that no gender is perfect. In fact, no one is perfect and everyone has good and bad things about them. Not all men and women are the same, and either gender can have the characteristic and character traits that you're looking for in a best friend. A best friend is someone that you have a lot in common with, and that can be someone of the same or opposite gender. In the end, you're best friend is going to be the friend that you admire more than the others and the one that you want to hang out with the most. Whether that person is going to be a male or female is completely up to you. Who makes the best friends? I think it's safe to say that we can call it a tie.

    - It depends on who are still with you as a friend when your life is spiraling down and reaches a bottom. X or Y chromosome has nothing to do with it. I have seen both man and woman running away. I have seen both man and woman staying put.
