Who is Better a Life Trainer or Psychologist?

Jackie Hale
A life trainer and a psychologist both are meant to help people to improve different aspects of their life, however a life trainer and psychologists differ in the method they use to respond with people. A life trainer would help a person to solve a specific aspect of a person's life and a psychologist aims at the overall improvement of the personality of the person. A psychologist does not concentrate on improving the communication skills alone but on the all round development of the person so he leads a full life. At times a life trainer could also address bigger issues.

Going a step forward we can say that a life trainer helps you set goals and work out the step by step method to achieve the goal. A psychologist follows a longer procedure and finds out about all the emotions and emotional patterns of the individual and finding how this information can be used in current situations. So psychologist focuses on the past, while a life trainer focuses on the present and the future. Life trainer focuses on where you are, where you where and where you want to go and to reach there and focuses on behavior.

A psychologist comes from a scientific field where everything is about facts, findings and proofs with rarely any deviations. He is strict in his approach and will use only those methods which have been proved before. However a life trainer may use certain new principles and approaches based on his experience. Some of these concepts could be creativity, visualization, meditation, positive thinking; rarely based on facts and proofs. He may use methods which work best for a particular person or group of persons.

Besides, life trainers share a friendly relationship with the person and is supportive to the person who consults him about a aspect he needs a solution, but, a psychologist maintains a professional relationship and gives standard instructions based on previous facts, findings and proofs which he expects his client to strictly adhere to for a cure. To put it truly the life trainer counsels and advises his client, while a psychologist may give strict prescriptions which are to be adhered.

It is worthwhile to note that a psychologist is consulted only when a person has deep rooted personal problems and cannot resolve it himself. It could be anything like his upbringing, his family circumstances or his present mental state, involving a long time connection. However a life trainer can be consulted, or his talks can be heard just to improve a particular aspect a client personality.

To conclude, the choice depends upon the client and his problem; does he need step by step instructions to improve his skills or does he need a solution to his deep rooted problem, does he need professional guidance or the guidance of a friend, does he need long term help to get over his problem or does he need short term motivation to improve himself. A person is the best judge in this regard whether he needs a psychologist or a life trainer.
