Who is Chef Michael, the Inspiration Behind Purina Brand Canine Creations Dog Food?

Kassidy Emmerson
Have you seen the television commercial that shows a man cutting up meat and vegetables while his cute little dog waits impatiently nearby? It's an ad for Chef Michael's dog food. The story in the commercial goes, that everytime the good Chef cooked at home for himself, his dog Bailey would dance around in anticipation of a feast. Not plain canned or bagged dog food. But rather, a meal that consisted of prime ingredients such as fresh potatoes, green beans and filet mignon, or rotisserie chicken, carrots and corn. Bailey's cravings for his/her favorite foods, including real meat, inspired Chef Michael to create a line of dog food that would satisfy a dog's appetite. Read this interesting article and find out the answer to the question, "Who Is Chef Michael, the Inspiration Behind Purina Brand Canine Creations Dog Food?"

See Chef Michael On the TV Commercial...Well, Part of Him
If you visit Chef Michael's website here, you'll see him, clad in jeans and a purple shirt, serving Bailey a meal that's- from what we are told- fit for a king. You won't see the man's face. Just his arms, and his body from the waist down.

You can't see enough of the man in the commercials to identify Chef Michael, the inspiration behind the newest line of Purina dog food. And, for good reason. He doesn't exist. Chef Michael is as real as Sara Lee, Betty Crocker, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are. Susan Thixton wrote an article titled "Who Is Chef Michael?" It's posted at truthaboutpetfood.com. Ms. Thixton said she e-mailed Purina and inquired about the identity of this mysterious food preparer. The reply she received was, in part, "We appreciate your interest in our products. Please know that Chef Michael is not a real person, but a reflection of the many people inspired to make mealtime special for their dogs."

So, now you know who Chef Michael is. He was created by Purina as part of their advertising campaign for the line of dog food which bears his name.
