Who is Devin's Father? ...The Christian Performer Mentioned on CBS' Undercover Boss?

Undercover Boss Mystery: Who is Devin's Dad?

Ron Masters
If you were like my wife and I tonight as CBS' Undercover Boss was rolling, we both immediately looked at each other and said, "Who is Devin's father." We just have to know. My first guess was Chris Tomlin, but, no, he's too young. Then I thought of Wayne Watson. Would Wayne's son be Devin? Devin's voice seemed so familiar -- if only I knew his last name, I'm sure I'd solve the mystery!

CBS' show, Undercover Boss, is a favorite of my wife and I's. I wrote about it some months ago ( see here ) when the show revealed some horrible treatment of women at a Texas restaurant. The show grabbed me then, and it's still grabbing me. We'll usually catch Undercover immediately after The Amazing Race. Some complain that it's nothing but a big advertisement, but there have been times - and tonight's episode was truly the exception -- where it truly felt genuine. Of course the big wigs are in on the stunt, but the employee's surprised looks and tears just seem incredibly honest at times.

Lucky Strike Lanes was the featured business with the CEO and co-founder Steven Foster donning a wig and glasses for a disguise and going undercover at various business locations in California, Texas and New York. While at the California location, Steven meets Devin, an energetic, roller-shoed employee who really puts a lot of enthusiasm into his job. As the CEO talks to Devin during a break, asking about his family, Devin explains that his father is a Christian performer who travels a lot. He continued on, explaining that as a youngster, Devin would help run the merchandise table for his Dad. It was those experiences that he felt helped him to be the people person he was while working at Lucky Strike Lanes.

So my wife and I kept searching for that elusive last name. Just who exactly is Devin's father?

The answer came as one of the web links led to a Youtube video. In it, Devin and his Dad, Bryan Duncan, (ok, so I just gave it away) perform a touching duet entitled, "Every Father Has a Son". And if you watch carefully, very carefully, you'll spot Devin wearing a Lucky Strike Lanes T-shirt in the video. How's that for tracking down our guy? (In giving credit where credit is due, I totally owe that find to my wife. Great job, honey!)

So there you have it. Mystery solved. Bryan Duncan is your guy!

And now... onto the video. Enjoy!

If you happen to enjoy Contemporary Christian music, you might enjoy this article by me. It happened at a traffic light, while I was listening to a Kutless song, with my windows down. Yeah, this really happened. :)

Yes, I definitely wondered, but never did look it up. Thanks for the detective work! Unfortunately, I've never heard of his dad after all, even though I listen to a lot of Christian artists.
