Who Did Megan Hauserman Pick?

The Question on Everyone's Mind

John Neeb
By now, most people are probably aware of the tragedy associated with VH1's series "Megan Wants a Millionaire." For the uninitiated, Megan Hauserman (of "Beauty and the Geek," "Rock of Love," and "I Love Money" fame) had her own television show, called "Megan Wants a Millionaire." On the VH1 series "Charm School," Megan made the comment that she would be fine with being a trophy wife. As such, she was given her own show, featuring a bevy of potential, millionaire suitors for her. The premise was harmless enough.

The first tragic twist came when it was discovered that one of the contestants, Ryan Jenkins, had murdered his ex-wife, Jasmine Fiore, after the taping of the series. Beyond murdering Fiore, though, Jenkins also mutilated the body, including removing all teeth and cutting off the fingers, so it could not be identified. Police were able to identify the Fiore's body, however, by the serial numbers found on her breast implants.

Ryan Jenkins managed to evade authorities and wound up in Canada. While there, another twist to this tragedy came when his body was found dead. After taking the life of Jasmine Fiore, Jenkins committed the ultimate act of cowardice and committed suicide.

Given the tragic events for Jasmine Fiore and Ryan Jenkins, VH1 immediately cancelled the show and there are now questions regarding what will happen to the network's "I Love Money 3" series, of which Jenkins had taken part. With the public cancellation of "Megan Wants a Millionaire" and the scandal entailed in the whole Fiore/Jenkins tragedy, many people are now focused on the question of who Megan picked in the show.

The answer to the question is rather unclear. VH1, taking the high ground (for now, at least), has not revealed who Megan picked. There is speculation that Jenkins was in the final 2 or 3 candidates, but no one seems to be suspecting that he was the ultimate winner.

A better question, however, is why do people want to know who Megan picked? This story has so much drama and terrible situations; it seems to be rather trivial at this point. A gruesome homicide and subsequent suicide are absolutely horrific in and of themselves. To care about the contestant that Megan picked is simply frivolous and unnecessary. VH1 seems to be making the best decision by not revealing the outcome of the cancelled show.

People may clamor for the answer to the question of who Megan picked, and perhaps bring up the fabled "the show must go on" argument, but in such a tragic situation an even better question is raised: Who cares? Jasmine Fiore was murdered. Ryan Jenkins committed suicide. These are serious issues and considerably trump the matter of who Megan Hauserman selected to be her sugar daddy.

Curiosity is natural, but sometimes people need to put things in the correct context and realize what is important versus what is trivial.
