The job of the employee is simple: complete the training in such a way that what is learned is learned fully. This means the employee must participate in an active manner. In this way the new information will be retained.
One way an employee can make sure his or her head is in the right place is by thinking of how the training relates to work. This will make the employee more likely to pay attention and propose questions. If the employee believes the training will help them perform their job duties, the employee is more likely to take the training seriously..
Of course, just because the training is over doesn't mean the employee should stop learning. On the contrary, the employee should find opportunities to apply the skills they have recently learned so as to stay in practice.
The job of the supervisor is to ensure that the training goes smoothly. Goals should be set in such a way as to be productive and useful. They should also be clear. The supervisor should never leave it up to the employee to assume what the goals are. Visual Basic training will help the employee in several different ways. The supervisor should make sure that the employee understands this.
The supervisor should also allow the employee to remain focused on the training by taking care of the employee's usual responsibilities. This will make it easier for the employee to retain the information presented in training and, as such, will be a useful investment.
The supervisor should also make sure the employee gets to apply the information. Understanding that training doesn't mean the employee will immediately know all there is to know about the subject, the supervisor should allow the employee to hone his or her skills in said area by allowing opportunities for practice.
Although some companies don't bother to have a trainer on staff, it would be useful for them to do so. This includes small businesses.
The trainer's job is to stay on top of the training that the employee's will need. The courses that they create should involve up-to-date training techniques and information. The courses should also be designed through in cooperation with the employee as well as the supervisor. In this way the training will be useful to the employee and the company.
The trainer should find out whether or not the Visual Basic training was useful to the employee. In this way, the trainer can create a better training situation for future workers.
The trainer is also responsible for encouraging employees to undergo training and encouraging supervisors to create room for training.
If training is effective the benefits for the company and all involved parties are immense. However, for training to be successful, everyone must do their part.
