"Where exactly are we goin' again." Arliss whined. "Shut up, Arliss before we kill you for certain." Kalib warned. "Well, you're in a bad mood, what's eatin' you? Have some water. Maybe it'll put a fix to that sour mood of yours." He muttered. Kalib reached his hand out to grab the canteen.
The moment his hands gripped it, he could feel its emptiness and when he took off the cap and turned it over he discovered it was completely empty. "You couldn't help your self could you, dammit Arliss why'd you have to drink it all?"
"I was thirsty, Kaib, maybe you should have asked for it sooner." Arliss fought back. "And what was I supposed to do till then, drink my own spit?" He smirked. "Well if ya did, things would be so quiet." Arliss replied. "Here drink from mine." Faye offered. "I thank you, kindly, Miss Faye." He said. "You might as well keep it with you for now. It's getting late how 'bout we set up camp right here."
"That sounds good to me, I been ridin' for so long." Kaib said while dismounting his horse. "So this is where your husband was murdered." Ross asked. "That would be it just over the hillside; I even marked the spot with a tall, wooden stake in the ground to commemorate his life." Kalib couldn't help but notice the tears beginning to pool in her eyes.
~~~
After camp was set up and the fire was crackling, kalib just happened to be awakened to silence. First he looked around and took a head count and the only one missing was Miss Faye. Kalib took it upon himself and find her. He had remembered her saying something about her husbands' body was buried somewhere over the hill, and so that's where he was headed.
