Regardless, there are not too many chefs who have been so blatantly brilliant at doing what entertains us most in his show, which is to face the toughest cooking challenges possible with no advance knowledge of what he will be preparing or what with, and no time to prepare before hand. We love this! This is entertaining. How many of us have had to put together a delicious meal at the last minute or have been called to whip up a great meal with only what was on hand before us? We've all been in that position and to be able to watch Robert Irvine do it is very inspiring. He has been placed in situations you and I never would; cooking with 18th Century equipment for example is not something I fathom coming across in my daily life. I recall he once cooked on a cattle drive and in an ice house, which was incredible. Dinner: Impossible showed us wannabe food artists that we can do it with our limited means. He seemed to make it easy to do.
The only other celebrity chef that comes close to making us feel comfortable and capable in our own kitchens is Rachel Ray. But that is an entirely different matter. What you have with Robert Irvine is "I want to do a great job and look what I have to work with!" But what you have with Rachel Ray is "I just want to do this and do it quick!" I have fixed many of Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals and can honestly tell you that her boasting of express line cheap and quick is not a lie. The meals she prepares are quick and easy and the ingredients common. But to be honest, although she is a very nice and attractive person, her shows are not nearly as entertaining as Robert Irvine's.
Who cares if Robert Irvine exaggerated on his resume? I mean, come on, take Emeril for example; Emeril Lagasse is a well trained chef with very prestigious credentials to his name, and he is a very good chef. I enjoy watching his show, but he cooks without the entertaining flair that Robert Irvin gives his audience. Emeril Lagasse is excellent when he sticks to what he knows which is Cajun/Creole, but he could never do what Robert Irvin does, on the spot and impromptu with conditions that are just outrageous.
Danny Boome is another one of today's top celebrity chefs gearing up his own name. Being the new host of Rescue Chef, it must be said, he is a very handsome and charismatic host. Unlike a lot of his television predecessors however, he came from a sports background not a restaurant or cooking school. Danny Boone is a former hockey player. So if Danny Boome can do it, hockey stick and all, why can't Robert Irvin who has given us so much and has proven his worth in the culinary arts.
I still drool over the dishes Robert Irvine creates and his shows are the most entertaining of any cooking show that has ever been. Boo to Food Network for firing Robert Irvine.

Post a CommentFood Network can go to hell. Robert Irvine made your show. I won't watch food network ever.
who cares if he exaggerated on his resume. Robert Irvine is the one and only Dinner Impossible guy, he made that show for what it is. i will not watch it with the other guy it jus isnt the same. i watch all the shows Robert Ivine is in, Food Network bring Rober Ivine back!!
Grow-up FOOD NETWORK!! GET RID OF BIG MOUTH, BORING RACHEL RAY, and bring Robert Irvine back!!! He is AWESOME!!! Best cook, u had on TV. hE MADE WATCHING "DINNER IMPOSSIBLE" Fun and enjoyable to watch!!! BRING HIM BACK!!!
I am very disappointed with FN for firing Irvin. He is one of the best chef around and he performs so well in Dinner Impossible. So what if he exaggerated a little on resume - who hasn't, this is an entertainment business and not academic. I had a chance to watch the new chef the other night and he just does not cut it. It was boring!!! I have decided to stop watching Dinner Impossible with the new chef. I will only watch the re-run of Dinner Impossible. FN needs to reconsider their decision or they will continue to lose viewers. I predict the show will be cancelled with this new chef.
FN needs to bring back chef Irvin! The new chef is boring and has no style. I will not watch Dinner Impossible again until they bring back chef Irvin.
In Entertainment business, Acting is the most we are interesting in the performer not his or her resume.
We recently started watching Dinner Impossible due to the fact there was nothing on TV this summer. So, we DVR'd the repeats of this show and enjoyed watching Robert Irvine so much! He took the challenges well, treated his chefs and hosts with respect and truly was a professional. He was having fun! And, we just learned about this show. We just found out that he was "removed" from Food Network's "Dinner Impossible." What I don't understand is...if the Chinese "girl's" gymnastic team allowed underage performers, and were still able to keep their medals...why was Robert let go? I think that the Beijing Olympics would have far more stringent rules than Food Network. Please bring him back...if he provides a huge mea culpa.
Oops ran out of room...continued from last post:
something special. Not just stuck some fruit and spiced whipped cream on them (I could do that). The food just does not measure up to Irvine and his staffs. So what...he embellished his resume. Big woo! If everyone who ever embellished their resume was fired, the world would come to a stand still.
Sorry, won't be watching until Irvine is put back where he belongs.
I posted this on the online petiton:
Please bring Robert back! No offense to Symon, but I agree it's just not the same. We like Michael...just not on Dinner Impossible.
The thing I appreciated so much about Chef Irvine was how he went that extra mile to make the guests day perfect. He always seemed to challenge himself and his assistants to come up with extra dishes, which was so cool. I think someone who takes that much pride in their work is a GOOD role model. Robert was fantastic about doing vegetarian selections as well. This is one of the first FN shows where the chef actually goes out of his way to make creative vegetarian dishes, which is more than lacking on that channel. This new guy seems to just do the minimum. No way would Robert forget the "chicken" from the "Charlie Daniels: Devil Went Down To Georgia" challenge, he would have pushed to make it happen. Premade red velvet cakes...I don't think so, Irvine would have re-invented them, magically morphing them into
The Food Network will soon discover that replacing Robert will be costly. I suggest they immediately begin to back track and find a way to bring Robert back to Dinner Impossible as the show's ratings will plummet without him.
