Tinseltown also brought us such legendary favorites as, Top Gun. Made hundreds of women swoon over Richard Gere in An Officer and a Gentleman. Terrorized thousands of innocent teenagers with Jason and Freddie. In such horror sequels as Friday the 13TH and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Hollywood was definitely doing something right in the 80's. Breaking all the rules and creating a whole new cinamatic way of bringing movies to our local theaters.
Ghostbusters was just such a movie.Produced and directed by Ivan Reitman and released in the United States on June 8th 1984. It starred such big names as Bill Murray,Dan Ackroyd and Signorney Weaver. It Was also nominated for several Golden Globe awards. Including best theme song. written by Ray Parker Jr. The release of Ghostbusters gave birth to a hilariously funny, immensely sarcastic cast of ghost exterminators. Including everyone's favorite, Peter Venuman. The character played by Bill Murray. Audiences everywhere didnt know wheather to laugh or be scared out of our wits by the 50 foot tall pillsbury dough boy. Ghostbusters was a tremendous hit in the 80's. And chances are if you enjoyed it then, you'll enjoy it now. Loyal Ghostbusters fans find just as much entertainment and enjoyment in watching it 20 years later as they did then. And still today you'll find people asking the ever popular phrase 'Who You Gonna Call'. If you're one of those very few who haven't yet had the opportunity to experience the movie for yourself.
