Who the Kell is Kelly Cutrone? 'Kell on Earth' Premieres on Bravo
People's Revolution Public Relations Powerhouse Debuts Reality Show on Bravo
Kelly Cutrone is not a new face for MTV fans. But for fans of Bravo, that may be a different story. Last night, Cutrone's own reality show, Kell on Earth, premiered on Bravo. And even those fans who know her from MTV's The Hills and The City likely learned a few new things about the no-nonsense public relations powerhouse.
The premiere featured a behind the scenes look at New York's Fashion Week, with a rehash of last years show when Cutrone famously let Ashley Dupre, Eliot Spitzer's former call girl, sit in the front row, resulting in a big, overblown scandal. This year Cutrone asks her friend Dupre to please lay low.
Cutrone is actually fairly likeable, once you get past her harsh exterior. Of her male assistant, Andrew Mukamal, Cutrone says, "I got really tired interviewing blonde girl after blonde girl.... ", before going into a mock Valley Girl imitation.
Is Cutrone referring to MTV blonde girls Lauren Conrad and Whiney Port, who both worked for her at People's Revolution? Indeed, her latest assistant, Andrew M., is the "blonde girl" polar opposite-he has long dark hair, dresses in black and wear bondage jewelry.
On her video blog on Bravo, Cutrone dishes the dirt on new fashion trends and gives us a few tidbits on her personal life: she's a single mom to 7 year old Ava, she calls her own mother 3 times a day, she loves to cook and bakes decorative cakes and her even ice skates. Also- her house is pink and white! The princess of darkness has a pink and white house? That just doesn't sound right.
Cutrone has also recently published a book. If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You is, not-so- coincidentally, due out today.
Kell on Earth airs Monday night at 10:00 PM ET/PT on Bravo.
