Who is Keller Williams?

Who is Keller Williams? Well, you may have seen the signs in front of empty houses all across the U.S. advertising "Keller Williams Realty" - this isn't what we're talking about here. This article introduces you to Keller Williams the singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who is sometimes referred to as the mad scientist of guitars.

While his talent is obvious as soon as he picks up a guitar, whether it is acoustic, electric or a bass guitar, it is not his guitar playing skills alone that have audiences all across the United States buzzing. Instead it is his live solo performances that have been known to go on for hours, dazzling crowds with his unique, one-man-band style show that will hit on any number of different musical genres, all in just a few hours time, and all played by himself.

But Keller is no ordinary one-man-band - you may be thinking of a guy playing a guitar, drum strapped to his back that beats when he stomps his feet, harmonica in front of his face; but this isn't Keller, not by a long shot. Though he plays all of these instruments and a lot more, Keller Williams has a completely unique style - a totally different take on the idea of a one-man-band.

Many of Keller's songs start with him playing out a beat on a tiny drum pad on stage. While it may seem like he's just playing around at first, he quickly taps out a melodic beat and then moves on to one of his many guitars on stage.

Keller proceeds to play a riff on that; while his superior guitar skills tend to belt out a more bluegrass-type feel he has been known to play classic rock and jazz style guitar riffs, as well. If he thinks the song needs a little bass, Keller will then move onto the bass. If a horn or trumpet is needed, Keller will mimic the sound with his voice; his partner fills in for the more complicated brass sounds. However, if Keller is fine with the rhythm and satisfied with the sound, he'll start to sing one of his often time's humorous songs.

Bob Rules is one of his more popular tunes; a brief story about a dream about being on the game show The Price is Right. The song Scooby-Doo mimics the cartoon series with Keller playing the role of the villain, and Red Pebbles is a satire on the infamous Jefferson Airplane song White Rabbit.
