Who is Kevin Peter Hall... The Predator!!!

Theresa L.

If someone were to ask you who Kevin Peter Hall is many of us would say we never heard of him. However, if you mention the movie 'The Predator' and most of us would say we heard of it. Ironically, Kevin Peter Hall was the actor that portrayed the predator in both 'Predator 1 & 2'.

Yet, it is not Hall's role as the predator that makes him stand out, but rather Hall's height. Hall stands a little over 7' 2" tall, making him one of the tallest men in the world.

Like so many others, basketball was in Hall's future. He played in high school, college and later in Venezuela but basketball was not Hall's dream. Hall was a theatrical major in high school, later moving to Los Angeles where he began a couple of night club acts with a friend he meant during his college years.

Hall would than go to work on the series "227" in 1985, where he would meet his wife Alaina Reed-Hall. There marriage would be both on the set and in real life, a very uncommon occurrence in the movie industry. .In 1987 he would go on to portray the predator and again in 1990 for "Predator 2".

Jean-Claude Van Damme was originally meant to play the Predator. However, with all the cast well over six feet tall, the producers decided to go with Hall who was much taller.

Hall would do other movies and series, but most would keep his face uncovered, including Harry from "Harry and the Hendersons". However, Hall can be seen in "The Predator" as the pilot.

Unfortunately, one year after the release of "Predator 2" Hall would be involved in a major car accident. He would receive contaminated blood that would take his life a few months later. With his wife beside him, Hall would be one of the first few actors to tell the world that he had aids. He left behind his wife and two children.

You can read more about the life and view the movies/series on Kevin Peter Hall at IMDB.com.
