The scientists have studied this subject for years, reasoning over the physical evidence left behind and now many agree an asteroid did it, according to the Yahoo article by Kate Kelland, Health and Science Correspondent.
As earth's story goes, and most scientists would agree, at one time on earth there was an abundant animal and plant life, many really huge plants and animals thrived. Then there was this mass extinction, which killed most of the dinosaurs, then a slow extinction of the rest of the dinosaurs along with certain big mammals. Most of the big animals became extinct and only the small mammals we see today survived.
From the Bible we read that God "opened the windows of heaven" (Genesis 7) and "the fountains of the deep" were broke open. David said in the Psalms 136; "you founded the earth on the waters," so there were subterranean waters when the earth was first formed. The Bible also says, "the shields of the earth belong to God" Ps 47. Physically the earth is shielded by its magnetic field. Combine all this information with other known physical evidence in the fossil record of asteroid hits, volcanic eruptions, oxygen depletion, and global flooding we get a story that goes something like this.
In the beginning God made all living things to dwell together peacefully in an unspoiled environment. People, plants and animals of all kind, including powerful lizard kinds, dinosaurs, lived a long time and grew very large. But Humans sinned and so God caused the Flood in Noah's day. During the time of the flood it rained water, asteroids, maybe ash. The magnetic fields could have been alternated. Volcanoes erupted and waters gushed from under the earth. Since God works miracles Noah's Ark was not damaged. David wrote, God is a shield to those who trust in Him.
After the Flood Noah released all the birds, and animals, including some of the lizard kind, dinosaurs are just one kind of lizard. After a certain amount of time humans and animals and lizard came into conflict. Those lizards, mammals, and bird that humans did not kill off simple moved farther away from civilization. We have seen this same killing off of competing animals happen since people have come to the America, it's happened all over the world. Since humans have had a hand in killing off most everything else it would stand to reason we also had a hand in killing off the remaining dinosaurs too.
