Someone anonymously called reporters and told them the location of the letter. The reporters were also instructed to report the information in the letter to the police department, notes KOCO. The reporters who retrieved the letter were asked by authorities to keep the contents of the letter private.
Homicide Investigation in Death of Julie Mitchell
Police investigators spent 19 hours inside the home of the Mitchells looking for clues to the crime. KOKO reports that "police later found suspicious things inside the house to determine it was a homicide."
Mrs. Mitchell died of blunt force trauma according to the pathologist's report. The crime report was accidentally released by the fire chiefs. That certainly compromises the integrity of the murder investigation.
Any murder is tragic. However, a murder that leaves a 13-month old child without its mother it particularly horrific. The baby was covered in blood at the crime scene.
What kind of person could murder a mother in the presence of her baby?
Julie Mitchell: Killed at Age 34
Julie Mitchell was only age 34 at the time of her death. She had a lot of accomplishments. She earned a business degree at the University of Southern California. She had also been an All-American cheerleader and participated in the Junior Olympics.
Mrs. Mitchell's husband Teddy is said to have been away from the home at the time of the crime. Her body was discovered by one of her stepsons. The couple had been married for five years. Mr. Mitchell works as a sports bookie and poker player, reports the Daily Mail. According to KOKO, Teddy Mitchell "has involvements with illegal gambling."
No arrests have been made yet in this case. Since Mr. Mitchell was allegedly involved in gambling, this murder could have ties to organized crime.
Death Penalty for This Murderer
Murders like this are why I believe in the death penalty. Someone killed a woman who had just made her dream of being a mother come true over a year ago. She was a much needed presence in the life of her new child. And now that child will grow up without a mother and with the knowledge the mother was brutally murdered.
Anyone who kills and can be proven guilty via evidence deserves the same fate they gave the person they murdered. Perhaps knowing that they will soon also be killed if they murder someone might deter some homicides. There are far too many murders in our society. Life is precious and yet it so often ends in such gruesome murders.

i live in oklahoma city and according to what i've heard on the news.. i think there were maybe 2 killers.. someone wrapped the baby up in a blanket so she wouldn't see her mom get killed.. there are rumors it ties into the husbands gambling debts.. the anonymous letters the news agencies keep receiving are from oklahoma though so i'm thinking something more personal .. local..
This is a very sad case the only thing that bothers me is that the husaband has not cme forward and said anything begging for justice nothing i think that's really odd if something happen to any family of mine i would be on every new channel there is begging for justice...
OKC isn't far from my home town. I use to go there all the time.
The death penalty or lack thereof has become political fodder. However, there is one thing: if a proven murderer is put to death, it serves as a crime deterrant -- how? In that THAT person will never kill anyone else. Note that the original (Theocratic) Nation of Israel (not its modern counterpart) was authorized by God himself to have a death penalty.
So young, so sad, cheers for the report - I didn't know. Her family is in our prayers.
Horrible, just animalistic barbaric behavior.
A very sad case.
Wow, sad story, thanks Julia for passing this on.
The poor baby will never remember her mother and her stepson will likely never forget what he saw. May the grieving somehow find comfort in each other.
