Who is KISS?

Nathan Dawson
Who is KISS? I will tell you who KISS is. KISS started as a garage band in 1972. They went by the name Wicked Lester. Epic Records ended up rejecting the group which later led to their early doom. But by 1973, KISS was born with three original members which included Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and drummer Peter Criss. Ace Frehley later joined the group.

Peter Criss and Ace Frehely left the group in the early 1990's, being replaced by Eric Singer, and Tommy Thayer. The band has had several member changes that occurred during its 35 years.

KISS released their first album titled "KISS" in 1974. By 1975 their second album titled "Dressed to Kill" is released. Also in 1975 they released "KISS ALIVE". Many other albums were released up to the current album Sonic Boom which was released in 2009.

Over the past 35 years, KISS has recorded 37 albums and selling over 100 million of those albums worldwide. Making them the gold record champions. The group has performed at Super Bowl XXXIII, the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002 and they also performed at the American Idol finale.

KISS is Currently on a tour of North America, making stops at several locations in the United States and Canada. They made a stop for two shows at the historic COBO Arena in Detroit in September 2009. That is the arena that made KISS famous. It is slated to be demolished. They also have added a European Tour which is to kick off in early 2010. The tour is part of KISS Alive 35, and also has to do with the release of Sonic Boom.

So as you can clearly see, KISS has been apart of our lives for over 3 decades. They love to perform and entertain everybody. I personally have been to their concerts and they are better now as they have ever been. They put on an amazing show. And I am honestly happy to have been apart of the KISS generation.
