The city of sin-- Las Vegas-- was perhaps more of a "milk and cookies" kinda of town tonight, what with 53 young, beautiful do-gooders gathered together (with host Mario Lopez, of course) for one reason-- and one reason only -- in hopes of being crowned Miss America.

The competition was over when Caressa Cameron, aka Miss Virginia was crowned our nation's queen.

"I think next to my wedding day, this will probably be the most beautiful I will ever be. So I just hope to feel like a movie star. I hope to feel like a princess. I hope to feel like Miss America," proclaimed Caressa, in regards to the evening gown competition.

The 22-year-old Fredericksburg, VA native beat out 52 other contestants (including one each from the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico) in the swimsuit, evening gown, talent and interview competitions.

During the talent competition, Caressa belted out the climactic ballad Listen (famously performed by Beyonce in the musical film Dreamgirls).

Now that we've got the basic information cleared out of the way-- here's the salacious scoop (and what you really wanted to know) about Ms. Caressa Cameron:

* Caressa is a broadcast journalism major at Virginia Commonwealth University. One day she hopes to become a news anchor.

* Caressa is not "in to" crowns. Her platform issue was actually "Real Talk: AIDS in America." After losing an uncle to AIDS when she was 16, she vowed to win the title of Miss America in order to spread more awareness about this incurable disease.

* Caressa was a late bloomer. She openly admits that in high school she was a "negative person" who was "made fun of constantly because of [her] forehead, sideburns, and braces."

* After hearing Nancy Reagan speak, Caressa was inspired to try out for the school musical (and so began her singing career).

* In high school Caressa would get into fights with other students. Following her crowning of Miss Virginia in 2009, Caressa began helping troubled teens across the state, speaking to youngsters about making the right decisions when faced with drugs and sex.

* Caressa has a talent for jewelry design. She even helped to design several pieces for Sylvan Spirit Jewelry (sylvanspirit.com) to benefit the National AIDS Fund.

* Caressa wants to teach others to be leaders-- not followers.

* Caressa likes ice cream and scrapbooking.

* Caressa is raising money for and walking in the 24th Annual AIDS Walk Washington on October 2, 2010.

* Caressa is not (yet) friends with Donald Trump and seems like a nice girl.
