Who is the Newest Extreme Makeover Family?

The Sharrock Family of Rossville, Georgia!

Abby Greenhill
Extreme Makeover Home Edition, in case you are one of the few who has never seen the show, is where a family in need is chosen to have their current home replaced with a bigger and better one.

The site where the Extreme Makeover team is working this week is in Rossville, Georgia. The Sharrock Family, Michael, Cindy and their 9-year-old son Patrick were notified today that they have been chosen by the Extreme Makeover team.

Little Patrick has a rare genetic condition known as brittle bone disease. He has to be very carefully, as one little bump or bang can cause a bone to break. That sure makes life hard for a little boy who is full of energy. According to a report in the Chattanooga Times Free Press, Patrick loves to tell jokes and, believe it or not, break dance!

Extreme Makeover normally builds a family a new home, furnishes and decorates it, within one week. Extreme Makeover relies on volunteers and they are in the right state for that. Although Rossville is in Georgia, the wonderful people of Tennessee have been volunteering by the truckloads to help out at the build site. Not only that, they are donating money, food and whatever else is needed.

The Sharrrock's home school Patrick, so you can be sure there will be some type of classroom in the design of the new home. The team always personalizes the rooms as much as possible.

The family gets to take a vacation while the home is being built. They have not announced the vacation destination yet, we'll just have to wait until the show airs to find out all the details for that.

Some people in Rossville had a hunch that The Sharrock's were the family who would get the home. It seems there was a tree service on the block removing some low hanging limbs. That made people say, hum, perhaps some big equipment is heading our way? They were right!

The building site is very close to Lake Winnepesaukah (Lake Winnie) and the streets have been blocked off. Volunteers are heading to the build site and this new Extreme Makeover Home Edition will be getting started.

I never thought about the tax thing. Extreme Makeover should pay the taxes. but then the family would have to pay taxes on THAT. Good article!

Thanks for sharing :) Extreme Makeover was just in this area last fall, in fact. This is a really nice thing for families that need a new house, but not only do they have to worry about taxes once the house is built, but the cost of utilities in these huge homes can be shocking to some!

Love the show but can't help but think if they scaled back a bit they could really spread the wealth around more.

I get that the show wants to build a really impressive house for the audience. But really, they go way overboard.
