Background
According to Soap Central, Nolan North was born in Connecticut on October 31, 1970; his family later moved to Rhode Island. North has a journalism degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which he attended on a baseball scholarship. Afterward, he moved to Boston to do graduate studies in communication at Emerson College. He subsequently got a job in New Jersey as a reporter, but that didn't seem to suit him. In a bold career move, North decided to go to New York to be an actor and stand-up comic. Eventually, he left the East Coast and relocated to Los Angeles, where he finally got his big break.
Live-Action Roles
North's big break came when he landed a contract role as one of the original interns on Port Charles. The General Hospital spin-off premiered in June 1997, and North has the distinction of being the only original cast member still with the series when it ended in October 2003.
As Chris Ramsey, North had some of the best lines on Port Charles, and his delivery was flawless. Although portraying Chris was probably always enjoyable, North had the opportunity to have even more fun with the character in July 2003, when Chris began impersonating a European clothing designer to help a friend save face with her daughter. His riotous depiction of the flamboyant "Georges" showed another side to Chris that continued for the remainder of the series.
While Port Charles was still on the air, North had the opportunity to expand his resume. In 2000, he starred in Broken, a short film in which two U.S. citizens are thrown into a Mexican jail and tortured after wrecking their car. In 2003, he portrayed a soap actor on two episodes of Six Feet Under.
Since then, North has had quite a few other guest roles. His appearances include Modern Family, Dirty Sexy Money, Ugly Betty, and CSI: Miami, to name a few.
North now has a recurring role on Pretty Little Liars as Peter Hastings, Spencer's busy, over-achieving father.
Voiceover Roles
North has had too many voiceover roles to mention, spanning movies, television, and video games. According to IMDb, he began his voiceover work in 1999 with the video game Interstate '82. In fact, most of North's voiceover work is for games. Perhaps best known as the voice of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series, he also has many others to his credit. In 2004, he voiced several games, including nineteen characters for EverQuest II.
His movie credits include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, while his television credits include The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, and Wolverine and the X-Men.
Career Outlook
The future looks quite promising for Nolan North. His talent for live action as well as voiceover work makes him a highly sought-after actor.
