Who Put Barack Obama into Office? a Message to the Christians

Was it an overwhelming desire for Americans to lay down their differences and come together as ONE- The United States of America?

Was it ones man's earnest desire to overcome his difficult past and prove to himself and other men of race that anyone can achieve their dreams?

Was it disheartened Americans over past administrations?

Was it good campaigning?

Was it massive spending?

Was it eloquent speaking?

Was it great ideals?

Was it popularity?

Was it because of celebrity support?

Was it your vote?

I address this article to true Bible believers. If you are backslidden or never embraced Christianity you are welcome to continue to read, but God's promises are given to His obedient children.

"..... there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God." Rom 13:1

When Christ was born, Herod tried to destroy Him. He inquired at approximately when Christ was born and where.

Mat 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

Being warned of God that Herod was going to destroy the Christ child, Joseph and Mary took Jesus into Egypt to keep Him safe.

"Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men." Mat 2:16

Herod ordered all babies under the age of 2 to be killed. Hmmmm sounds like infanticide to the extreme. Innocent children died because of one man's power. Did Herod stop the redemption plan of God in all this? Although Herod wielded his power, Herod was not able to stop God's eternal plan for His people.

When Christ was to be crucified for claiming to be the Son of God, Pilate threatened to have Christ killed. Pilate wielded his power but could not thwart God's purposes.

"Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above:" John 19:10 , 11

".....I lay down my life, that I might take it again." " No man taketh it from me..." John 10:17, 18

So, if power comes from God what exactly changed from November 3^rd to November 4^th? Nothing.

Men and women flew fervently across our nation candidating, spending money, and doing their best to convince the American people that they understood our deepest needs. They then offered plans that they promised to implement if the American people would vote for them to be the next president of the United States. But our candidates were not honest. Our candidates embraced ungodly practices or made light of them. Our candidates puffed themselves up in pride and accepted the shouts of people who attached Gods attributes to them. Our candidates failed to draw clear lines.

Pro 21:6 "The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity..."

Isa 5:20 "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness;"

Lev 26:19 "And I will break the pride of your power;"

What was God doing during this time?

He was being God. Because God is not governed by time, there was no urgency on God's part. God was not surprised at the results of the votes. God didn't even have issue with the whole election process.

Why? To God, the election took place in the blink of an eye. It was a fulfillment of God's promises to His people, like a vapor that appears and vanishes away. This election was in God's mind in eternity past.

So before anyone gets too excited about their candidate winning or loosing, please know--

It was God, not voters who put Barack Obama into office.

No man, elected by men, can bring about the changes that America needs. God is the only one who holds that power.

II Chronicles 7:14 says, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Yesterday, today, and our future all remain a part of God's plan.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" Ecclesiastes 3:1

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.But God is the judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another. Psa 75:6 ,7

It was God, not voters who put Barack Obama in office.

Nothing changed in God's plan. Malachi 3:6 "For I am the LORD, I change not.."

The results of the election did not take God by surprise. Nor have they caused God to scratch His head and wonder what to do about it. God will still keep His promises, both to bless the obedient, chastise those who are disobedient and destroy the wicked. It doesn't matter who has been elected president. Nothing in God's plan changed.

Was the landslide victory a sign that God was in favor of one candidate over another? An overwhelming majority is not an indication that this is God's will for blessing on the American people. Sometimes God uses people and situations to judge His people.

The scriptures tell us in Matthew 7:14 "... strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

In fact, God's people are not just found exclusively in any particular church or country, but rather throughout the whole world.

Revelation 7:9, 10 "After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb."

God is worshipped in His true churches, but His people are scattered all over the world.

It doesn't matter that we are citizens of this earthly country. God is not restricted by continental boundaries. All leaders of all nations are all under God's divine power. America doesn't get a freebie.

So for the Christian, where do we go next? We know that President-elect Barack Obama supports many practices that violate the Word of God. Should we be concerned that we will be denied our rights as Christians?

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 1Ti 2:1, 2

This scripture was just as true on November 3^rd as it is after November 4^th. God says- pray and obey.

God is still at work, "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Phillipians 2:13

And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? It is Christ that died,.....who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Rom 8:27 ,28,31,34

If you find yourself, worrying and fearful, get close to God and keep looking up!

1Co 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.."Tit 2:11-13

Christians, watch and pray. Do not slumber and think you will not suffer some hardship. Instead put on the full armor of God and resist the devil. (Ephesians 6: 11-18)

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1Pe 5:6 -8
