Who is Rob Dickinson? The former lead singer/guitarist of The Catherine Wheel has earned some new fans during his solo career with his debut album, "Fresh Wine for Horses," which was released in 2005. It was subsequently re-released in June 2008 as a double-CD set. The first CD was his brilliant solo album. The bonus disc was Rob doing stripped down versions of popular Catherine Wheel songs.

The Catherine Wheel was a hugely popular, yet somehow underrated, alternative band from the 1990s. Because they were British, it was easy to find them overseas. But here in the United States, we had to stay up until the middle of the night to watch Kennedy on Alternative Nation or 120 Minutes to catch a glimpse of Rob and company doing classics like "Crank," "Black Metallic," "I Want to Touch You," and more. They caught on enough in America, though, that even Beavis and Butthead had commentary about their "Waydown" video. They were a far cry from Rob's cousin's band, Iron Maiden. Bruce Dickinson is Rob's cousin.

Catherine Wheel was the kind of band that you may have heard in passing, and not realized who they were. If the songs got their hooks into you, though, you just couldn't get enough. With Rob Dickinson's solo career, fans are revisiting their 90's pastime and rediscovering Rob's unique and mesmerizing voice. For us female fans, his stunning good looks are the icing on the cake.

Rob Dickinson continues to pen soul-baring lyrics that evoke all kinds of emotions in listeners. One of the most powerful songs on his debut album was "End of the World." Listeners may also be familiar with "My Name Is Love," which was used in many TV shows. He recently recorded a cover of The Smiths' "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want," while working on an upcoming album. He also contributed to two tracks on BT's "These Hopeful Machines," and released a solo, acoustic album called, "Live and Alone." This self-released solo album, as well as three live albums from his stint at Hotel Cafe in 2008, are available via his website. They arrive personalized and autographed. Dickinson is more than just a singer/guitarist/songwriter. Rob has an intense passion for cars, most notably the Porsche 911. He designed his own, called the Singer 911, which seeks to take the best elements of different generations of the classic car. The car and its design have been garnering lots of attention, including a special interview with Rob on Adam Corolla's "CarCast." Naturally, there are some critics of the vehicle, but many seem to be thrilled with the new design.

Rob combines his love for cars and his music in his video for "Oceans" off of "Fresh Wine for Horses." He also supplies the soundtrack to the Singer 911 website.
