Who Said That? Movie Quotes We Know and Love

Movies not only entertain us they can fill our lives with joy, sorrow and hope. The perfect or not so perfect lives of the characters can inspire us to do better and sometimes to do worse. We love them, we hate them we dress like them and we quote them. There have been quotes from movies that have endured the test of time and much use. The website Internet Movie Database (IMBD) is a great resource and is of full of information on movies, actors, quotes and everything you want to know about the movies we love, hate and have never heard of. They certainly helped me put together the following list of 10 movie quotes.

1."Face it, lady, we're younger and faster!" Face it girls, I'm older and I have more

insurance."

The first quote come from one of my favorite movies, Fried Green Tomatoes, a 1991 movie based on the novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle-Stop Café by Fannie Flagg. So many wonderful movie quotes came out of it. My favorite two are from the same conversation. The character Evelyn Couch, played by Kathy Bates, had just been cut off and had her parking spot stolen by two young perky girls who give us the first quote, "Face it lady, we're younger and faster!" Evelyn at her wits end rear-ended the girl's car. Her reply to them when they asked if she was crazy was, "Face it girls, I'm older and I have more insurance."

I love these lines; they truly represent the difference in age. I personally side with Evelyn Couch and can feel the supreme satisfaction of being older and having more insurance! This lasts much longer than the days of being younger and faster.

2. "Y'know, this was supposed to be my weekend off, but noooo. You got me out here draggin' your heavy ass through the burnin' desert with your dreadlocks stickin' out of the back of my parachute. You gotta come down here with an attitude, actin' all big and bad....."

Another Terrific movie is the 1996 movie, Independence Day, an action, science fiction movie staring Will Smith. This movie quote is from the scene where Captain Steve Hiller, played by Will Smith, is dragging an unconscious alien across the desert and makes this statement to it with much disgust. The scene is so funny and I love the attitude displayed by Captain Hiller. He is not going to take any guff off anyone human or alien. This line is full of so attitudes that you cannot help but feel it too.

3. "Screws fall out all the time; the world is an imperfect place."

This is a quote from the1985 classic The Breakfast Club. This is a quote by the character John Bender, played by Judd Nelson. Nelson played a mouthy teenaged "bad-boy" with an attitude problem. During detention, he takes a screw out of a door causing it to close. This was his response to a not so happy principal. It so perfectly says that stuff happens in life. John Bender has not has an easy go at life so far and even though he is not the nicest of people you feel for him and can relate in a lot of ways.

4. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

5. Lawzy, we got to have a doctor. I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' babies.

No list of movie quotes would be complete with quotes, from the very famous 1939 movie Gone with the Wind. The character Rhett Butler, played by Clark Gable, said the first one. He says it at the end of the movie when he is finally finished with Scarlett. Rhett has had enough of Scarlett, and he is ready to walk away from her. We have all reached that point in our lives. The statement is liberating. The second is from the character Prissy, played by Thelma McQueen a young slave girl. The quote is funny; you still hear both of these very famous lines quoted today.

6. "You can't handle the truth."

This is a movie quote from the 1992 movie, A Few Good Men. The character Colonel Jessep, played by Jack Nicholson, says the line. He is answering a question put to him during a trial. A lawyer is asking for the truth and this is his response. I love this line because it was the truth. The public could not handle what the ugly truth was.

7. "There's no place like home."

8. "Lions and tigers and bears! Oh, my!

9. "Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore."
10. "I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too!"

The last four quotes are from the timeless 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz. The character Dorothy Gale played by Judy Garland, made movie quotes 7, 8, and 9. Each of these quotes has been repeated countless times. The character Dorothy Gale was someone in which we could all relate. Her love of family and home touches everyone. The last quote was from the character the Wicked Witch of the West, played by Margaret Hamilton. We all loved to hate her. She was threatening Dorothy and her dog, and therefore threatening us. How could we not repeat these evil words?
