Although David Letterman Wants to Protect Others from Affairs Details, He May Have No Real Say in the Matter

Robert Joe Halderman, an Emmy Award-winning producer for the CBS investigative journalism news magazine "48 Hours," was arrested Thursday, according to ABC News, after receiving a fake check for $2 million dollars from David Letterman in an apparent attempt at extortion. David Letterman revealed shocking details of the extortion attempt on "The Late Show with David Letterman" Thursday night. The 62-year-old talk show host had been involved in the investigation for three weeks. After receiving a package in his car that contained a letter that explained the blackmailer's intent of disclosing David Letterman's sexual affairs with female employees of his show if the extortion demands were not met, Letterman took the package to the proper authorities.

David Letterman told his stunned studio audience that Thursday had been the first time he had ever appeared before a grand jury. He also said that he did not wish to cause embarrassment to those he had sex with and that he felt obligated to protect them and their anonymity. Letterman said he wanted to protect himself, his family, and his job as well.

But the wheels of the gossip mills and curiosity factories are ever-turning -- and people will want to know who David Letterman slept with. And the tabloids, newspapers, magazines, television shows, and blogs that cater to the ever curious have no doubt already mobilized a considerable force of investigators to find out about the potential scandals and who these women are, details to follow. There is nothing to stop other investigators from pursuing the same leads and gather the same information as was garnered by Robert Halderman.

Given his extortion attempt, Robert Joe Halderman probably will not have the noble designs exhibited by David Letterman, either, to further protect the anonymity of the employees with whom he had sex. There is absolutely nothing keeping Halderman from divulging identities of female employees that David Letterman has worked with and slept with over the years. Robert Halderman has no reason to avoid scandal. He had threatened to reveal the affairs in a screenplay if Letterman failed to provide him with $2 million-worth of "hush" money. Depending on the 51-year-old's level of vindictiveness toward Letterman for not upholding his end of the extortion deal (and Haldeman's subsequent arrest), he just might start revealing names from behind bars.

David Letterman has been hosting late night talk shows regularly since 1982, when he signed to do "Late Night with David Letterman," a show that followed Johnny Carson on NBC's "The Tonight Show." In his confession Thursday night, the comedian admitted to having sexual affairs with female members of his show. What was left unsaid was that "his show" covers over 27 years.

And where there is scandal, there are the curious. And the curious provide a market for stories. The market will inevitably reveal who David Letterman slept with...

Why are anti-semitic people already saying that ths could be another Mossad/Sayanim plot to control major media figures and celebrities, like with Michael Jackson or with the kidnapping of Charles Lindbergh's baby by that weirdo Jewish kidnapper Bruno Hauptmann?

Interesting to see how this transpires.
