Tila Tequila, the star of A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila on MTV, is suddenly a celebrity. But who is she exactly?

Her show is an overnight sensation, and suddenly she's everywhere, but it turns out she didn't just spring up, she's working at it for quite a few years. Tila Nguyen, was born in Singapore but moved to Texas when she was very young. As a child she got herself into a bit of trouble. It started in middle school where she got into numerous fights and was sent to boarding school to correct her behavior. It was in middle school that she got her nickname "Tila Tequila" after experimenting with alcohol and then having a severe allergic reaction to it. In high school she got into recreational drug use at clubs and joined a gang. She finally straightened out after she made some friends outside her gang and started to refocus her life.

When she was eighteen she was discovered by a Playboy scout. She did some spreads and was featured as Playboy's cyber girl of the month in April of 2002. Tila quickly became a popular men's magazine model. She appeared on the covers of Maxim, Stuff and Import Tuner. She's made appearances on a couple television shows including The War At Home and the game show Identity. But it was an appearance and announcement on TRL that made her presence even more known, that she would be releasing an album with will.i.am. Music group under the A&M Records. When her first single "Love U" was released it hit the top of the chart on iTunes within twenty-four hours. She supposedly has the most friends on the website Myspace, and is known as the "most popular person on Myspace." Thus creating a huge networking audience.

Tila's new show, A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila, is a new form of reality dating. On the show 16 men and 16 women are battling to become Tila's lover. That's right, she reveals she's bisexual. The catch? Neither the straight men or lesbian women knew and they now have to battle the opposite sex for their chance at love with Tila. Surely this will only increase her popularity and we will be seeing much more from her. Tila represents a new bred of celebrity, a cyber celebrity. Someone who has created a persona online and become famous for it and is now moving more and more into the spotlight. Hopefully she'll actually find love on her new show.....good luck.
