Who Can an Ulcerative Colitis Sufferer Trust?

Gary Davis
All of us have some "skeletons in the closet" that we would hope other people didn't know about. Usually though, these skeletons are over and done with. The problem with ulcerative colitis is the chances are it will keep rearing its ugly head putting us in positions where we have to make decisions about who we should trust and who we shouldn't.

It really is very simple. You can't trust people who you don't know. You can't trust any organization that specializes in purveying public information.

I have a friend in the insurance business. They buy "leads". People can be identified as having had a medical condition. Don't be shocked, this happens all the time. Information you release about yourself is used in many ways. That is why I think you keep your medical conditions away from possible employers.

You know, there are very few resources to help me research this article so I think this is one time we are going to have figure things out for ourselves.

Perhaps this question is better answered by asking "Who can I trust?" I would say your spouse, your immediate family, perhaps your spiritual mentor and perhaps a dear friend. Why can't you trust anyone else?

In-laws talk and gossip. The same is true of extended family. They don't have to live with the illness so they often pass judgment.

People at a job will typically use anything they can to get some type of edge with respect to promotions or to get on a superior's good side.

Any type of survey speaks for itself. There is no way to know why they are doing what they are doing.

Additionally, if you don't know someone very well it makes no sense to give them the key to the skeleton in your closet.

As I re-read my article I see that it seems a little paranoid. It probably is. After all, I can always tell someone about my ulcerative colitis condition in the future. However, once I've told them and I see the damage they do, I can never take it back.
