During childhood, we may often imitate our parents' actions or the things they say. Some may look up to their parents and wish to grow up and be very much like them. We sometimes take on the traits of our parents. If some people have a parent who is a Police Officer, they may later choose the same career path for themselves.
Friends are a huge influence during the teenage years. Many teens become a part of the party scene. They follow what others are doing and are sometimes easily influenced by friends. This can have good and bad outcomes. The bad outcomes could be one teen becoming addicted to a certain drug that his or her friends are heavily into. Friends may commit crimes and lead others to becoming guilty by association.
When one is in love, sacrifices are made. Each person ends up changing for the other by maybe stopping unneeded habits. Couples become very much alike. They learn to like the same things, have the same ideas or feelings about something. Eventually a couple may develop similar attitudes toward everyday life.
Who we are and who we become, I agree, does depend in part on who we love. We are influenced more by those who are close to us and it is equally split among parents, friends, and those we love. Sometimes those who choose not to love as well.
