Who Will Be the 7 Billionth Person on Earth?

Revisiting the Present

Michele Starkey

The United Nations reports that at the end of the month around Halloween, the 7 billionth person will be born upon the earth.

According to some sources, the world's population reached its first billion only around the year 1805 and we're likely to top the 9 billion mark by 2050.

For the record, the baby who topped the 6 billion mark was reportedly born in Sarajevo, Bosnia. How can we ever be sure with daily estimates of 200,000 births worldwide every day?

The statistical analysis indicates that baby number 7 billion will most likely be born in India - not China as was predicted earlier this year. Analysts say they have even narrowed down where in India the baby will be born and it is in Uttar Pradesh.

We should pray for a baby girl. According to the PR Newswire,

"With a population bigger than that of Brazil, it has just 899 girls for every 1,000 boys. The situation is similar in many other states such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Bihar." You can read the full article here.

The earth at a population of 7 billion - can you fathom it? With this mass of humanity sharing the earth, I began to wonder just how big it is. The Universe Today puts it this way,

"The Earth's mass is 5.9736 x 1024 kg. That's a big number, so let's write it out in full: 5,973,600,000,000,000,000,000,000 kg. You could also say the Earth's mass is 5.9 sextillion tonnes. Phew, that's a lot of mass."

How much can the earth support?

There is a documentary film with Sir David Attenborough that you can view here. It gives you food for thought. If you would like to listen to Attenborough's theories, click here.

Will there ever be standing room only? Only time will tell.

If my due date were closer, perhaps my baby would be the 7 billionth person. Interesting article.

well it is exciting but these are just predictions, you can narrow it down that much, what if a baby is born premature and so on

This earth will always have plenty of room for everyone until the Lord sees fit to come back. In fact in China and Japan there are not enough youth to support the elderly as is also true in the US. I would be careful about resources that tell us this earth is overpopulated. In fact all over the globe there has been a decline in population due to abortion and people choosing not to have children but instead chasing after the dollar. I am going to recheck this myself. In fact I wrote an article on the decline of the human population! Thanks for sharing!

As ever, your perspective is so unique, dear friend! I'm finally trying to leave some comments at last!
