Who Will Be the First Real Housewife on "Dancing with the Stars"?

Jenna de Salea
What once started as a fun little show about "The Real Housewives of Orange County" has now become a hugely popular franchise that has branched out to the cities of New York, Atlanta, Beverly Hills, New Jersey, and Washington D.C. There have been huge fan favorites and much maligned villains that have changed the face of reality TV forever.

"Dancing With The Stars" also started out much like "The Real Housewives" as a small dance competition show on ABC that worked in Great Britain, but nobody was sure how it would translate in the US. But 11 seasons later, DWTS has become one of the most popular shows in primetime and is the place where stars go to either launch or resucitate careers.

So it seems natural that a Real Housewife would be a contender for the Golden Mirrorball Trophy. But with reality TV, it's not only important to be well known amongst fans, but to be known among the masses as well. Former Real Housewife Bethenny Frankel is probably the best known Housewife universally because of her books, a stint on Martha Stewart's Apprentice, and The Skinny Girl Margarita. Which is probably why she was tapped by "Skating With The Stars" first season.

Right behind Bethenny Frankel in terms of being widely known is Atlanta Housewife, NeNe Leakes. Leakes wrote a very popular book, "Never Make The Same Mistake Twice" and made the major media circuit with it. She's a character that no one forgets, so it's no wonder Donald Trump wanted her for the next Celebrity Apprentice.

With Bethenny and NeNe already doing a network celebrity competition, let's take them out of the mix as far as the first housewife on Dancing With The Stars. So looking at the factors of both popularity and widespread notoriety here's the five housewives that would be in the running to be the first ever on DWTS.

Michaele Salahi
Nobody would ever want to admit it, but alleged White House Party Crasher and DC Housewife Michaele Salahi would be in the running as the first Housewife on "Dancing." Everyone knows about the infamous White House State Dinner, it made national and world news, so she's a name everyone would know. She also clams to have been a Washington Redskins Cheerleader, so we can see her put those moves to the test.

Gretchen Rossi
Gretchen stirred things up with her appearance on "The Real Housewives of Orange County." With her controversial relationships, and business ventures, people on the street pretty much know who Gretchen Rossi is. She's also a fan favorite of her series so that right there will get you a couple million votes.

Kim Zolciak
Don't Be Tardy for The Party!!! This campy Atlanta Housewife had a summer dance anthem that made her widely known beyond the show. i would be fun to see this chardonnay swilling chain smoker transformed into a ballorrom dancer.

Caroline Manzo
Caroline of "Real Housewives of New Jersey," was actually the fans #1 pick when the question of who the first housewife on "DWTS" will be when asked via Twitter. Caroline is known as the leader and matriarch of the New Jersey franchise, and she has been a 'character' in so many of the comedic Housewife parodies that she would be pretty widely known to people outside the reality TV sphere.

Teresa Giudice
Next to Bethenny Frankel and NeNe Leakes, Teresa Giudice is probably the most recognizable of the Housewives. Famous for the "Table Flip Heard 'Round the World" she is pretty much known to everyone. Especially since her personal life was the stuff of tabloid fodder over the summer. There were rumors of her joining the season 11 cast, but she was not added, and since then has been very vocal about taking dancing lessons.

So there's the top five in the race to be the first Real Housewife on "Dancing With The Stars". Who would you like to see be the first Housewife on the dance floor?
