Who Will Be the Next President?

Rebecca Smith
We ask ourselves who will be the next president? It's a silly question when we already know who it will be. The race for Democratic leadership was an intense start but the obvious is showing through now that we are drawing to a close. Clinton has definitely put up a good fight but many suggest she back out of the run for she doesn't stand a chance. The next president will be Obama. I was hoping that Hillary Clinton would win the Democratic Party to run for president, but she doesn't have as much support as Obama does. Obama is still in the lead when it comes to Superdelegates. She is coming in close but not close enough. Most people want Clinton to be Vice President to Obama.

Obama will have a tough run against McCain, but will triumph in the end. McCain is too much like that of our current president George Bush. People have grown tired of his ways and are looking for a change to save the economy.

Obama's youthful appearance and age also gives him advantage against that of McCain who looks close to being a nursing home patient.

McCain spoke about his commitment to global warming recently, which placed him at odds with his own political party who does not place global warming at the top of their list. His speech placed his position closer that of Hillary's and Obama's.

Hopefully Obama will be able to give our economy a boost and save us much needed money as the war in Iraq has drained us completely.

Obama's Rev. Jeremiah Wright came out with controversial remarks which led people to believe it would damage his chances in winning the election. Obama's response was that Wrights remarks "expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country -- a view that sees white racism as endemic." Obama also stated

With the high gas prices soaring more every week and soldiers dying in Iraq somebody needs to do something. People are having to cut into their grocery money just to be able to afford to drive to work. There are home foreclosures and no 100% financing options for home buyers anymore. Jobs are being lost and things will only continue to worsen if what is being done now doesn't stop.

Even though I like Hillary, I am sure Obama will do an excellent job as our next president. Hopefully he will keep his head on his shoulders and straighten the mess left behind when he enters the office.

At this point our country almost needs divine intervention to save what is left after all the neglect it has suffered.
