Who Will Teach The Children?
Ridgecrest is located in the Asheville Mountains. When you drive up in your car, you can feel the peace of God's spirit and love. Here is where leaders come for weekend or week long retreats. This is where, one early morning, I was greeted with and opening video of excitement. Children on the video were smiling, laughing, and playing. Teachers were teaching Sunday school. The title caught my attention. It was "Who will teach the children"? From that room we could break up and choose the seminar that we wanted to attend next. In the "Sunday school Director's" class, as small petite lady, taught about the workings of a successful set up for teachers and children. Ridgecrest Conference Center is located at: P.O. Box 128 Ridgecrest, N.C. 28770 To reserve your time at Ridgecrest you can call 1-800-588-7222.
Will you sign up to teach the children? There are many children all over the world who love to hear about Jesus. Children learn in different ways. Some children learn, when you show them a picture and others need hands on projects to learn. However children learn, we must be equipped to teach them. Most children have an attention span according to how many years old they are. That means that you have two minutes before you need to change an activity for a two year old. Small tables and chairs need to be in Preschool rooms. Life way has a lot of pictures and hands on projects. Firstlook.org also has a curriculum for Preschoolers. I like this curriculum. It is set up for "The Make it Stick" lesson to support "The Make it True" lesson plans. If you are in a large church, then you need a resource room. We have two ladies who run our resource room at church. They do a great job. In the resource room there is play dough, paper towel tubes, sequins, glue, tissue paper, craft boxes, cans, ink pads, stamp pads, etc. This room helps the teacher to have items on hand, immediately. The library has die cut outs of different shapes and sizes. You can choose from flowers to trees and Mary or Joseph. The church library also has ideas for teachers to spark teachable moments. There is a display case that holds pattern books of projects. Preschool rooms should have cubbies for the children, carpet on the floor, and small bathrooms. Older children need taller tables and chairs in a classroom.
Happy teaching,
