Best Picture
Black Swan
The Fighter
Inception
The Kids Are Alright
*The King's Speech
127 Hours
The Social Network
Toy Story 3
True Grit
Winter's Bone
The King's Speech will rule this category. The film tells about a part of unknown history. This film is funny, touching, and inspirational. This historical period piece will become a classic. The cast is great too.
Best Actress
Annette Bening
Nicole Kidman
Jennifer Lawrence
*Natalie Portman
Michelle Williams
Natalie Portman will dance away with the Oscar in this category. She took ballet lessons for this role. She plays the perfect mad ballerina in The Black Swan. www.movies.yahoo.com/theblackswan She is a great actress and dedication to her craft is going to pay off this year.
Best Supporting Actress
Amy Adams
*Helena Bonham Carter
*Melissa Leo
Haillee Steinfeld
Jacki Weaver
The category is a toss up. The Oscar could go to Helena Bonham Carter for The King's Speech or Melissa Leo for The Fighter. www.movies.yahoo.com/thefighter I would give a slight edge to Melissa Leo Because she won many major awards for this role. However, Helena could take the Oscar as well. She is royal in The King's Speech. Colin Firth and her have wonderful chemistry.
Best Actor
Javier Badem
Jeff Bridges
Jesse Eisenberg
*Colin Firth
James Franco
The king in The King's Speech will be crowned at the Oscars. Colin Firth has a regal way about him. He made the audience care about royalty. He is both regal and vulnerable as King George VI. If there is a lock at this year's ceremony then, this is it. I am a Colin Firth fan because of this film.
Best Supporting Actor
*Christian Bale
John Hawkes
Jeremy Renner
Mark Ruffalo
Geoffrey Rush
Christian Bale is a fighter. Therefore, he will win Oscar gold for this role. He has also won numerous awards for this role. That is why he is the front runner in this category.
Best Director
Darren Aronofsky
David O Russell
*Tom Hooper
*David Fincher
Ethan Coen and Joel Coen
This category will be a battle between historical royalty and cyberspace royalty. Tom Hooper did a great job directing The King's Speech. He got much out of his cast. However, David Fincher is to be applauded for directing The Social Network. www.movies.yahoo.com/thesocialnetwork This is because the film has edge and tension. Moviegoers feel the power of this movie. I can't wait to see who wins this Oscar.
Best Animated Feature
How to Train Your Dragon
The Illusionist
*Toy Story 3
The toys have it this category. The three films that make up this series are good. The Toy Story films do a good job of taking moviegoers through childhood masterfully. These films are for both children and adults. The voice cast is amazing too.
Best Screenplay
Another Year
The Fighter
Inception
The Kids are Alright
*The King's Speech
The King's Speech will take this category. The script is perfection. The writing is heartfelt and historically accurate. There isn't a misstep in the film.
Best Adapted Screenplay
Winter's Bone
127 Hours
*The Social Network
Toy Story 3
True Grit
The Social Network will be the winner in this category. The movie is based on the book called The Accidental Billionaires. The movie stays close to the book. Both the book and the movie are good.
Best Original Score
How to Train Your Dragon
Inception
*The King's Speech
127 Hours
*The Social Network
This category will be between The King's Speech and the Social Network. The two soundtracks fit into their respective moves wonderfully. I also have both of these soundtracks and I enjoy both of them. This category is hard to call.
The Oscars are almost here and it has been a great year in movies. There were movies about a king who overcame an obstacle, the creation of a worldwide website, the study of dreams, toys, and a ballistic ballerina. There will be a coronation at The Oscars. The King's Speech will take the most golden statues. This is because it is a historically wonderful film and the cast is superb. In short, there isn't a misstep in this movie. The Oscars are going to to be good. See you at the movies. Source: http://movies.msn.com/academy-awards/nominees-list/
