Your nominees for the 2009 Country Music Award's Female Vocalist of the Year are:
1) Martina McBride
2) Reba McEntire
3) Taylor Swift
4) Carrie Underwood
5) Miranda Lambert
As you can see, my statement above pretty much says it all. They are all deserving of this award, but only one can win the award.
Martina and Reba are both classic country music artists and will be favorites in the field for many years. They sing from the heart and have made their personal mark on country music years ago. They hold the advantage of popularity from a wide range of fans in all age groups and experience.
Carrie Underwood is no newbie to the game either. She zoomed to stardom with winning American Idol several years ago and hasn't looked back yet. Underwood has won this award for the past two years. Can she do it again for a third consecutive year?
Miranda Lambert has certainly made some stride in getting her name out there in the past year. However, I don't think she has quite made a big enough splash to step on the same rungs of the ladder as Reba and Martina. Nor do I think she has been in the spotlight as much as Carrie Underwood or Taylor Swift.
That leaves us with Taylor Swift. She is young. She can sing country music. She can sing pop. She can perform. She is cute. I could go on and on, but basically Taylor Swift has hit the stage performing all over the United States winning the hearts of young girls and adults alike. Swift's music is selling out in stores everywhere and her hits stay at the top of the charts week after week. She is a very high contender for this award. Her time has come.
With that said, here is my list of rankings for the 2009 Country Music Award's Female Vocalist of the Year:
1. Taylor Swift
2. Carrie Underwood
3. Martina McBride
4. Reba McEntire
5. Miranda Lambert
The Country Music Awards will be broadcast live on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 7:00 pm Central Standard Time on ABC. Tune in to see who wins!
