The nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series are as follows:
Jaime Pressly as Joy Turner in "My Name is Earl"
Jenna Fischer as Pam Beesly in "The Office"
Conchata Ferrell as Berta in "Two and a Half Men"
Holland Taylor as Evelyn Harper in "Two and a Half Men"
Vanessa Williams as Wilhelmina Slater in "Ugly Betty"
Elizabeth Perkins as Celia Hodes in "Weeds"
Jaime Pressly has been nominated once before for an Emmy. In 2006 she was nominated in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her role in "My Name is Earl." She is nominated in the same category for the same role this year.
Jenna Fischer has never been nominated for an Emmy before. This nomination for her work in "The Office" is her first. However, she has won Screen Actors Guild Award for her work on the show in the category of Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy.
Conchata Ferrell has been nominated for an Emmy twice in the past. In 1992, Ferrell was nominated for her work in the hit show "LA Law" in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Ferrell was also nominated in 2005 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her role on "Two and a Half Men." This is the same show and category she is being nominated for this year.
Holland Taylor has been nominated for an Emmy four other times in the past. In 2005, she was nominated in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on "Two and a Half Men." In 2000, Taylor was nominated in two different categories--Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in "The Lot," and also, for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role on "The Practice." In 1999, Taylor won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for "The Practice.
Vanessa Williams has never been nominated for an Emmy before. This nomination will be her first. However, this talented actress has been nominated for numerous other entertainment awards and she won an Image award in 2007 for her role in "Ugly Betty" in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
Elizabeth Perkins has been nominated one other time for an Emmy. In 2006 she was nominated for her work in the show "Weeds" in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She is nominated in the same category and for the same show this year.
All of the contenders share a common trait---none of them has ever won an Emmy. So which one of these talented ladies will walk away with the Emmy? Although it is stiff competition, all of the sources say that it will be Jenna Fischer for her portrayal of Pam Beesly in the hit show "The Office." Find out who the winner will be on September 16th on Fox.
